Craftsman Trucks at IRP 8/6/2004

Chad Chaffin was the winner at IRP.  Johnny Sauter dominated most of the event in a rare CTS appearance, until Chaffin made a bold outside pass on the white flag lap for the victory.  Bobby Hamilton finished 3rd and holds a 5 point lead in the championship standings over 12th place finisher Dennis Setzer.  Any comments or opinions on the event at IRP or the CTS?  Get those keyboards racin!

Follow the link below for the complete rundown of the results from the CTS race at IRP.

CTS Race, NashvilleTN 8/14/04

Bobby Hamilton Sr. played his new guitar in Victory Lane today at Nashville Speedway in Tenessee, after winning another Craftsman Truck Race.  David Starr, was passed for the lead by Hamilton with less than 10 to go on a restart, and came home with the runner-up prize.  Ted Musgrave was a solid third.  The Sr. Hamilton extended his point lead as the 2nd place point man, Dennis Setzer took the checkers in the 19th position.

Bristol CTS Race 8/25/04

The Craftsman Truck Series runs the Bristol Motor Speedway under the lights this evening.  Television coverage begins at 9:00pm on Speed.

We will post the finish here, as soon as the checker drops.

Ken Schrader started from the pole, and our local favorite Steve Park started 5th, and is holding his own at 6th place, on lap 35.  Watch here for results.

Carl Edwards, coming off his very first Nascar Nextel Cup start, (where he posted a very respectable 10th place finish), brought his #99 Roush truck to victory lane in Bristol.  Bobby Hamilton retains his point lead for the championship.   Robby Gordon, in a seldom CTS start, brings home a 4th place finish, and Steve Park gets another top 10, by finishing 9th.  We will post the link to the results as soon as it becomes available.

Results are finally in, but not official as of yet.  Due to the delay, there must have been some scoring questions, or maybe just the disagreement between Skinner and Setzer's teams caused it.  Follow the link below for the rundown:

NHIS Results 9/18/04

No one thought the trucks would get in their race today, but they did.  And, it wasn't even shortened at 3 to go when the caution came out, only due to a wreck on the frontstretch, not that the drivers couldn't see in the worsening darkness.  Trucks were running out of fuel left and right up to this point (including NNC regular Jamie MacMurray and youngster Shane Hmiel), and presumably thinking that they would not complete the whole race, no one would give up track position to pit.  Nascar chose to drop the yellow, white, checker, instead of the green, white, checker, that the Trucks are famous for.  Travis Kvapil, who probably would have succumbed to any empty fuel tank, if it had stayed green, held off pole sitter, Jack Sprague, who's second place finish lost him $18,000.00.  Steve Park ended up 14th after qualifying second, but started in the rear due to an engine change.

The CTS Started with Carl Edwards on the pole and Shane Hmiel on the outside pole

---Bobby Hamliton Jr went from 3rd to 1st to the lead in the 1ST turn

---Word had it that lap 40 would be a COMPETION YELLOW

--Todd bodine started in the rear for changing his radio and by lap 10 moved from 34th to 24th

--Yellow on lap 13 for the truck #43 of Josh Richardson as he tried to pull it to pit road and spun

--Kasey Khane took the lead from Bobby Jr on lap 20

--Lap 24 Todd bodine worked his way up to 15th which does make him the driver who did the most moving up at this point

--Yellow on lap 28 for Kelly Sutton crashing

--Yellow on restart flat tire on shane Hmeils truck and it collected the 21 truck as well

--Since yellow on lap 35 came out the COMPITETION YELLOW will be at this lap

--restart on lap 40 Khane resumes lead,

--4th yellow on 60 for Jr patton in the 67 truck, he hit the wall and debris fell off, all of the leaders Came in, top 5 come out are 50 62<did not pit> 2,6,59 at the restart on lap 66

5th yellow -- for the 06 truck of Jay Sauter and im sorry THERE SHOULD NOT BEEN A YELLOW, since he did not loose foward motion nor hit anything, nice save

--Khane in the 2 truck takes the lead at lap 74

--6th yellow on lap 95 Carl edwards blew a right front tire and at the same time Dennis setzer spun off 3...

--with everyone down on pit road, hamilton and park are the only ones that have 1 extra set after pit stops

--Restart on lap 98 father and son duo the HAMILTONS ARE 1 and 2.... jr in 1st and sr in 2nd but let SR get by to get 5 points

--Todd bodine has come up from 34th starting postion to the 7th postion as of lap 102

--7th yellow flag on lap 113 for the 43 truck again..... spinning in turn 3....  Hamilton sr and jr and musgrave have 1 more set of tires.. but it is a gamble because they have to go through 24 trucks on the lead lap......this is going to be interesting

--restart on lap 120   the top 5 are 2,30,75,6

--8th yellow Josh Richardson is at it again and spins out DENNIS SETZER just got a big blow by spinning in turn 3 and all tires are flat,  with 25 green flag laps prevously run, the hamiltons have reached 2nd and 3rd.....as of now sezter is behind hamilton in the points by 83 points

-restart on lap 141 the top 5 is   2, 5,9,4,30

--9TH yellow Todd Bodine SPINS WITH 4 LAPS TO GO,  THEREFORE THIS SETS UP A GREEN WHITE CHECKER SITUATION

--10th yellow MAJOR DEVELOPMENT BOBBY SR GETS IN THE BACK OF JR'S TRUCK ON THE RESTART AND THE RACE WILL GO TO THE CHECKER UNDER YELLOW....... THE TOP 5 ARE KHANE<2> HAMILTON<4> EDWARDS<99>  PARK<62> HAMILTON SR WAS VERY EMOTIONAL GETTING OUT OF HIS TRUCK, POOR GUY

hoped you liked the highlights of the race,  stay tuned of the last southern 500 highlights and results, hopefully i wont used this much space on the cup page.....  i will try to narrow it down, see ya till then  :)
