NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour and Twin State Speedway have just signed an agreement marking the first return trip to the 1/3 mile asphalt oval in over 22 years, Sunday, July 8, 2007. What this means is that the most premier open-wheel tour in 2007 will be coming North. With such notable mod graduates as Jimmy Spencer, Steve Park, Geoffrey Bodine, Jeff Fuller and Mike McLaughlin to name a few.
The Fleury Family and NASCAR have been working on this race for over a year now. When asked about the race - track owner Dennis Fleury was very excited. "We'll run our regular show on Friday night with our 7 divisions of NASCAR racing and then the Whelen Modified Tour will have a special show on Sunday. This will be the week following NHIS's Loudon Race, and will be right in the points chase. Twin State Speedway has always been a modified facility and with the return of open wheeled action with our Pepsi Modifieds (running a full 20 week schedule in 2007), this race is going to be a show not to be missed. Dennis also added, with the many updates done to the speedway, and the growing fan base that Twin State Speedway is now in a position to hold this kind of event.
Along with the WMT we will have our weekly NASCAR Pro-Late Model division on tap, giving the teams an additional chance at the National Championship.
Twin State Speedway is located on Thrasher Rd in Claremont NH. For more information you can call the track hotline at 603-543-3160.
