White Mountain next stop for PASS North teams as season winds down

NAPLES, Maine (Sept. 14, 2006) — As race fans from all over the northeast converge on the famed ‘Magic Mile’ this weekend in Loudon, New Hampshire, teams and officials from the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North division are busy preparing for a high-stakes shootout of their own.

Point leader and 2004 champion Johnny Clark, young gun Cassius Clark and three-time and defending champion Ben Rowe will lead a full field of the fastest full-bodied cars on asphalt into the immaculate White Mountain Motorsports Park (WMMP) in North Woodstock, New Hampshire, this Saturday night, Sept. 16, for 150 green-flag laps of short track excitement.

Pit gates will open at 12:30 p.m., practice runs from 2:30 p.m. until 5 p.m. and the green flag waves at 5:30 p.m. sharp.

Among the drivers entered is Richie Dearborn, who captured the September race at White Mountain in 2005. Scott Chubbuck drove to victory on Donnie and Teri Avery’s high-banked 1/4- mile back in July, and looks to be a contender in Saturday’s 150-lap battle. Following Chubbuck across the line in July were Ben Rowe, Mike Rowe, Johnny Clark and Travis Kheil.

Cassius Clark recorded his fifth win of 2006 last Sunday in the New England Dodge Dealers 150 at the Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine. The Farmington, Maine hotshoe has been on a roll this summer, and looks to put the Team EJP/Chapman Trucking Ford into Victory Lane yet again this weekend. Clark finished 21st at WMMP in July.

The influx of drivers from the Outlaw Late Model division continues as a number of drivers will attempt to qualify for Saturday night’s shootout as they prepare for the 2007 season in the Super Late Models. Derek Ramstrom of W. Boylston, MA, who was solidly in the top ten at Beech Ridge last week when he got caught up in someone else’s mess, will be back along with Chris Staples of Brunswick, Me, Jimmy Rosenfield of Middleboro, MA, “Pistol Pete” Frazer of Nottingham, NH, and Jimmy Renfrew of Candia, NH.

Also on tap this Saturday are the final points races for White Mountain’s regular weekly divisions. Competition has been intense all season, with two divisions coming right down to the wire to decide the 2006 championships. The friendly confines of WMMP, with its high banks and smooth surface, make for some of the best short track racing seen anywhere on the planet.

The Pro All Stars Series was formed in 2001 and has enjoyed steady yet controlled growth since its inception. In 2006, the series expanded to include the PASS South division, creating an organized tour for Super Late Model/Pro Stock teams throughout the southeastern United States. Response and racer participation has been positive, and the 2007 schedule is coming together very nicely. The 2007 PASS North schedule is also nearly complete, providing some very exciting events to announce in the coming weeks.
