Now with all that out of the way.....Let's make some laps!
It will be right down to the wire Friday night Sept 8, as Lee USA Speedway, Lee, NH, will play host to its season championships for all five divisions that compete at the Rte 125 oval. Closely contested points chases have taken place in four of the five divisions and the added pressure of finishing well enough to garner enough points to capture the track title will add to the excitement of “Championship Night 2006”
The NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Late Model division finds Wayne Helliwell, Jr, one point ahead of arch rival JR Baril going into Friday nights card. All eyes will be on both when they take the green flag from starter Bryon Callen. Helliwell and Baril, second generation drivers, returned to the Lee oval this year after many seasons racing Pro Stocks at area speedways.
Keith Larmie, a recent winner, Jeff Lebreque and Jeremy Harclerode make up the top five in the standings.
The Street Stock division finds only 3 points separating the top two drivers going for the track title. George “Boe” Green and defending champion Wayne Whitten Jr have run away with the point’s battle this season. Jason Marr, Michelle Fushpanski, and Jimmy Renfrew are third through fifth in the rankings.
Only 8 points make up the difference between Jim Shorey and Pete Evans going into the Ciotti Racing Products Hobby Stock division event. Todd Bregy, Bobby Glass, and Matt Thomas make up the top five.
The small block super modified division finds only one point separating Joey Scanlon and second generation driver Eddie Witkum Jr. Matt Riley, Dave Sanborn, and newcomer Daniel Bowes are next in order.
Ricky Porter enjoys a 43 point lead in the Roadrunner division over Myra Fowler.
The champions for 2006 will be honored Saturday night November 18 at Faro Gardens at Joseph’s, Hampton Falls, NH. Advance tickets are on sale through the Speedway office.
