BARRE, VT – Tonight’s NAPA Auto/Make-A-Wish Trophy Dash at Barre’s Thunder Road Speedbowl has been postponed due to rain. The race has been pushed back 24 hours, until tomorrow (Friday) night August 11. Post time will be 7:00 pm. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 pm.
The NAPA race, which features the annual “Run-What-U-Brung” competition for street cars, is also the lone fundraiser held at the high banked, quarter-mile stock car racing track. Over the past eight years, Thunder Road fans and teams have contributed more than $5,000 at each race to Make-A-Wish of Vermont which provides wishes to ill children.
To participate in the “Run-What-U-Brung” competition, participants must register at the pit gate by 6:30 pm. The rules are not many but include a valid driver’s license, registration and inspection of the vehicle. All types of vehicles are allowed, although studded tires are now permitted. Also, the driver of the vehicle must be at least 18 years of age. And don’t forget a helmet!
Ticket prices for Friday night’s rescheduled NAPA/Make-A-Wish event are $9.00 for adults, $3.00 for kids (ages 6-12) and $18.00 for a “family” (any two adults and two kids).
