This weekend’s NASCAR Busch Series event at Gateway International Raceway will mark the debut of the JR Motorsports No. 83 Chevrolet, driven by Shane Huffman. The event is the first time that the Dale Earnhardt Jr.-owned JR Motorsports team will field two cars in the same Busch Series event and is the beginning of Huffman’s career as a driver in one of NASCAR’s premier series. Four other events are planned for 2006 before the No. 83 team competes full time in 2007.The event holds a more special meaning for Earnhardt Jr. however, as the No. 83 Chevrolet carries the Make A Wish Foundation into its Busch Series debut as well. “One of the best things I do at the track is meet the kids through Make A Wish,” Earnhardt Jr. stated. “Once I met that first child, I wanted to do anything I could to make sure all of the children get their wishes granted. We got together with Make A Wish a few years ago and started the Dale Jr. Sports Celebrity Auction to help with funding to make those wishes come true. (JR Motorsports PR) (07-26-06)
