MOTHER NATURE CLAIMS ACT TOUR AT AIRBORNE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                          ACT-072206-1

Plattsburgh, NY – Four days after making up an early season rain-out at New Hampshire’s Lee USA Speedway, the American-Canadian Tour’s (ACT) Late Models have lost yet another event to rain.  Saturday’s Furniture World of Vermont 100 at Airborne Speedway (Plattsburgh, NY) was the third race of the year to fall to the effects of Mother Nature.  A reschedule date has yet to be announced.

The parking lot of the half-mile D-shaped oval was packed with trucks and trailers hauling Late Models from Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, and New York as well as Quebec and Ontario.  The race was to be the sixth of 12 slated for 2006.        Over 30 Late Models were expected for the Tour’s annual stop to the Empire State speedplant.

Unlike in past years, the ACT competitors were at Airborne for a July race instead of September.  Previous winners at the Plattsburgh track include Jean-Paul Cyr, Brent Dragon, Mark Lamberton, Patrick Laperle and Dave Whitcomb, among others.

With the postponement of the Furniture World of Vermont 100 the ACT Tour competitors move to Maine’s Oxford Plains Speedway on Saturday, July 29 for the Maine-ly Action Sports 100, the first of two Tour races at the 3/8ths mile oval.  Jean-Paul Cyr of Milton, VT is the defending race winner.  Post time is 6:30 pm.
