NASCAR officials confiscated the left-front tire of Clint Bowyer's No. 2 Chevrolet following Saturday's Goody's 250 Busch Series race at Martinsville Speedway for further evaluation. "We were looking at all the tires from all the cars and there was just something on the tire that I didn't like, but I don't know that it's anything to speak of," said series director Joe Balash. "We're going to take it to the R&D center and look at it under a controlled environment." Balash said the results of the examination should be completed by Monday. In addition, the crew chief of the No. 78 Chevrolet, David Hatfield, had his credential confiscated by a NASCAR official during the race because he left his pit stall and entered another competitor's pit area. Hatfield met with Balash after the race. Balash said NASCAR would review the incident early in the week for possible further penalties. (That's Racin') (07-22-06)

NASCAR Investigating Leak in Bowyer's Tire: NASCAR officials took the left-front tire from the Busch Series car of Clint Bowyer in order to do a more detailed inspection following the Goody's 250 Saturday at Martinsville. Richard Childress Racing Vice President of Competition Mike Dillon said Sunday the valve stem was leaking air and NASCAR wanted to examine it. "They wanted to see if we had done anything [to the tire]," Dillon said. "We haven't. We should be all right. It probably was a bad seal or something." NASCAR has been on the lookout for teams putting tiny leaks in tires in order to keep air pressure the same as the tire heats up during competition.(SceneDaily.com)(7-23-2006)
