Pro 4 Modified Tour heads to Lee USA (NH) Speedway August 4th

From the Lee USA (NH) Speedway website.

Pro4 Mods Returning to Lee,

Roadrunners to Race in Twins

The Pro4 Modifieds of New England will return to the Lee USA Speedway, Lee, NH. this Friday night August 4, joining the tracks Roadrunner division, the Allison Legacy Cars, plus the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Late Models, Street Stocks, Ciotti Racing Products Hobby Stocks, and small block supermodifieds as part of a special night of high speed entertainment. The program is presented by Kraze Korlacki Speed Equipment, a long time parts supplier and supporter of New England short track racing.

Veteran race observers will recall the former NEMMA organization, the New England Mini-Modified Association that was part of the weekly racing fare at the former Lee Tri-Oval Raceway in the 70’s. Today the Pro4 Mod division could be considered an off shoot of that former sanction as Cape Cod racer Dan Meservey, a frequent competitor at Lee in the 70’s, is still an active member of today’s touring division. Meservey actually started his racing career on the sand dunes of Chatham, MA, his hometown for many years before taking his division on the road.  Although Lee was a regular Saturday night home for the Meservey group, the club was a traveling organization and Meservey booked shows at race tracks all over New England.  The pro four modified concept was created in 1978 at the Seekonk Speedway and became a touring division in 1979 much like Meserveys NEMMA club. In 2000, the club became the “Southern New England Modifieds” and just last year was renamed the Pro4 Mods.

Today Meservey is still active and can be seen driving his legendary # 11a car at race meets. Other notables that participate with the club are Jeff Zuidema, a well known and successful racer, Joe Lemay, a former Westboro Speedway standout, JR Gorman, Henry Siragnano, Jr, and Cory Cleary, the grandson of New England Hall of Famer, Leo Cleary.
