ramblings july 16th

well it happened again,

Green white checker,   cars running out of gas,  and a very disappointing taste in my mouth because of NBC,

what a race folks,  the chase took a drastic turn today, and a defending champ is on the outside looking in because of it... but the major question in this is that if he should place 10th by Richmond,  would it be right if he was a champ for the 2ND year in a row?  i don't agree with this at all,  and most people don't either,  if you remember in 2002 Ryan Newman blew off the 1st half of the year similar to what the late Tim Richmond did in 1986 and came in 3rd in points in both cases......  in my eyes the chase should be abandoned and let the BEST TEAM WIN,
speaking of Ryan Newman, i am foaming at the mouth over his actions on the track,  totally wrecked out the leader which was tony Stewart,  what i saw was that Newman drove very hard in the corner and moved Stewart up to the marbles and both cars ended up spinning,  both drivers spend at least 20 laps in the garage area for repairs......  no need for the penalty box for this one folks,  penalty was already given for stupidity :)

in other news around the globe per say was the blacklisting of Juan Montoya from his former team MCLEREN<sp>  and the ignorant remarks from Micheal shuemacker saying nascar does not require skill,  this man needs to grow a brain because as much as i think F1 is a total bore,  IT DOES REQUIRE SKILL, but the thing is a nascar teammate don't lead for 200 of 300 laps and on the last lap roll over and play dead and let his teammate win.... it don't work that way here,  and further more F1 does require more reflex than the cup cars....  but what he don't understand is try to be in a pack of 10 or more cars inches apart for 10 laps,  i think he will think differently then,

in the local side of things,  the modified tour cars had there race also at loudon NH this weekend and it was a burn burner to the end...  with Johnny Blewett III winning the race which the results were held for some time to figure out the final running order as the yellow came out, what burns me about this is that they only showed 20 secs of the tours highlights on the speed channel,  the hooters cup got more air time then the tour,  whats wrong with this picture,
and the rumor of the week,  bruton smith wants to by loudon?   yes you heard that right,   and if this does take place the Sept race at loudon might be under the chopping block.....  do we need another 1.5 mile cookie cutter track in the last 10 races?

well that's it for now.........    till then

Scott

Scott, I agree with most of what you say but I must react about the Newman/Stewart deal. Yes Newman did throw it in there pretty good but if you watch the replay Stewart pinched him low. Either his spotter never told him "12 inside" or he did it on purpose. If it was on purpose then why does he whine about no give and take? If your spotter never said he was there, then be a man and admit your team made a mistake. Stewart thinks everyone sould just get out of his way (see WMT races at NHIS & Daytona 500 to name a few) but he can bull his way through when ever he wants. The man has severe issuses and needs to get a life. He has great driving skill but you have to wonder how many races he has won by pushing people out of his way. And his remarks to Marquis were a joke.

The rumor about Burton Smith wanting to buy NHIS is not new and he has previously said there is a standing offer to Bahr (sp?). He wants the track so he can steal a date for Vegas or one of his other tracks leaving NHIS with only one.

PS: I don't think much of Newman either, so I am not sticking up for him, just my take of what happened. Just my .02

I agree with you Spd 100% on the Stewart and Newman deal, Newman sailed it in there a ton and pushed up a bit, but it looked like Stewart tried to chop down a bit as well. They are both stubborn as bull's, and you just knew neither was going to give an inch but it's definitley getting to the point where pretty much everything that comes out of Stewart's mouth is what comes out of the other end of the bull.

Love that comment about the bull Open.

Althought I must agree that Tony was at fault also, old "Rocketman" was down two laps and should have given a little. at the same time though Tony did not need to pass him right then and there.

The end result is they both got what they deserve, and if they keep going they will both be battling for eleventh in the points when the Chase starts.

I agree with most, I think Newman was more wrong then Stewart but they both are lost in the brains department.

Let me just say, I like Michael Waltrip but someone needs to give him a hint to move the hell over more often. So many times Sinday he was the cause or involved with beating and banging with lead lap cars, mid pack while 2 laps down.

If you're up front with any chance of getting a lap back, I can see racing hard sometimes, when you're 30th on the track, I'm not sure what you are racing for and constantly getting in the way.

I guess my point is you had Newman 2 laps down on fresh tires fighting to make up ground with only what, 8 races to get into the top 10? And you had Stewart leading the race comfortablly. Reportedly, Stewarts spoter had just let him know Newman was closing fast, so why fight him for the spot? It doesn't help Stewart at that point to hold him up and Newman would still be a lap down after the pass. If Newman was fast enough to fight Tony for the win he would not be 2 laps down at that point of the race anyway. So, Tony was being his thick headed 'NO ONE PASSES ME" self and then isn't man enough to admit he should have let him go, burn up his fresh tires and pass him back in 15 laps. It just gets me when he does something like that and then cries the other guy doesn't give & take.

Maybe Stewart was day dreaming about after he wins he can climb over the fence and get mauled by drunken men again.
