Now with all that out of the way.....Let's make some laps!
Its a tough year to be a season ticket holder having already missed a month of racing by the first week of June. This Rain Out will make 4 straight, and stafford is getting dangerously close to the recent consecutive rain out record held by Waterford. If my memory serves me correct, Waterford lost 5 races in a row a few seasons back. The good news for Stafford folks is they have cancelled a few of them very early saving competitors and fans travel costs. they will make up the tour race come hell or high water, pun intended.
if you need a racing fix this weekend
SAT true value mods at Seekonk (no pro stocks)
SUN double late model features at LEE
I hope to make it to one of the two this weekend, weather dependent.
csg-I was thinking about the season pass not working out so well this year, but then I saw this...
STAFFORD SPEEDWAY EXTENDS 2006 SEASON WITH TWO EXTRA RACE EVENTS
(Stafford Springs, CT)---Stafford Motor Speedway has announced that it will extend its 2006 NASCAR season by adding two Friday night NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series events to its schedule. SMS will add Friday, September 15 and Friday, September 22 to its 2006 schedule of events. “We decided to add these extra events to our schedule for the benefit of our competitors, fans, and season ticket holders,” said Stafford CEO/GM Mark Arute. Stafford’s two new events will move the Final Friday Night Shoot-Out from September 8th to September 22nd. Both events will be be regular NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series events, with the SK Modified®, Late Model, SK Light Modified, Limited Late Model, and DARE Stock divisions all running their normal feature distances.

The issue this year may be nascar points at stafford. I believe the nascar weekly series points end before these two make up or added events take place. They recently redid the entire pts calculation and what not a couple years ago so Im not sure if its an issue still but in years past you had to have a certain number of events to qualify for the national championship. I am not sure the Stafford Sk's will get in the required number. About 3 years ago thompson ran double sunoco mods the last week so TC could obtain enough events run to qualify for the national championship which he won. The funny thing about that national championship was that he did not win the thompson track championship(marvin) that season as he tanked the last few races after the national championship was crowned.
That being said, its definitely a good move by the stafford braintrust to add a few races to compensate for missed races. I think these races may be money losers. Attendance may be a little light with Cup at NHIS (15th) and dover (22nd) those weeks. A lot of staffords weekly attendance may be elsewhere.
