Sk feature offers guaranteed starting spot for June 17th True Value Modified Racing Series event

The first of two “guaranteed spots” for the June 17 True Value Modified Series 100-lapper at Waterford Speedbowl will be determined in Saturday night’s 35-lap SK-Modified feature.

Tom Fox, Jeff Pearl and Rob Janovic Jr. are among those entertaining hopes of taking on the True Value invaders. The highest finisher Saturday with True Value 100 “intentions” gets one of the guaranteed spots. The same process will be repeated on June 10.

The SKs head up a five-division Speedbowl bill of fare. The Late Models will go 30 laps while the Sportsman, Mini Stocks and Legends are down for 20 each. Qualifying begins at 5 pm and features at 7. There are torrid point races boiling in all divisions.

Speedbowl General Manager Bill Roth said he and True Value Series boss Jack Bateman worked out the plans to guarantee at least two Speedbowl regulars will start the June 17 event. “The obvious and best way is to race for those spots,” says Roth.

What if it rains again next week? They could always take the top 2 in points if that happened, but I hope they get the races in next week.

The thing that I think is unfortunate, and it is in no way the Speedbowl's fault rather it's Nascar's fault for putting it's WMT schedule together piece-meal, is that three of the track's top SK Mod drivers, (Rob Summers, Chris Pasteryak, and Ron Yuhas Jr) will not be present the night of the TVMRS event as the "added in" WMT event in Jennerstown PA is the same night. And another unfortunate thing which I suppose is open to debate whether it is the tracks fault or not, is that the 19 car SK field will be cut to 16 cars.
