Jason Taylor Takes PASS Modified Win at Canaan

(Naples, ME – May 21, 2006) Jason Taylor of Searsmont, ME made the trip over the mountains worthwhile as he drove his #8 to the win in the TAT Link-Belt PASS Modified feature at Canaan Fair Speedway, Canaan, NH on Turn Back the Clock Night Saturday night May 20th.

The fans who braved the afternoon showers and the threat of more rain all night got their $5.00 worth and saw some great old-time racing at old time prices. General Admission for adults was $5.00, with juniors, $3.00, and kids were $2.00 on Turn Back the Clock Night.

Taylor started up front for the 40-lap tussle, but he had a tough time shaking Troy Morse of Bridgton, ME in the #6 for the first 15 laps, but he finally was able to pull out to a three car-length lead, only to get hauled back to the pack with a couple of cautions.

Chris Staples of Brunswick in the #5 Dallas Oil Machine was quietly making his way to the front from back in the pack. At lap 30, he had disposed of Dana Grover in the E. J. Prescott #99 and then passed Richie Morse in the great looking #34. By lap 33, he was by Richie's brother Troy in the #6, and the hunt was on. With two to go, he was on Taylor's bumper, but he ran out of laps as Taylor took the win. Staples settled for second, with Troy Morse third, Dana Grover fourth, and Richie Morse fifth.

On Saturday night May 27th, the TAT Link-Belt PASS Modifieds return to the friendly confines of Oxford Plains Speedway, Oxford, ME for the Cole-Man’s Concrete sponsored feature.

The KIXX 100.5 Weekly Racing Series started with the Kids Bandits feature with Chris Riendeau of Claremont, NH taking the win over Jordan Huntley and Chris Kingsley of Franklin, NH. Once Riendeau got to the front, he was gone, but Huntley and Kingsley put on a great show for second.

In the Mini Stock feature, it was Chris Lyman of Hartland, VT in the #05 nipping Travis Perrault of Enfield, NH at the line by three feet to take the win with Justin Hughes of Ludlow, VT in the #00 third.

Local racer Cory Roberts of Canaan took the Outlaw Mini feature over Dave Kendall of Charlestown, NH and Kody Wright of Wethersfield, VT.

There’s something to this racing gene theory. Young Joey Jarvis of the racing Jarvis family from Ascutney, VT showed the way around as he ran a steady race on the bottom and took the Pure Stock feature over Jerry Sullivan and Rob Thurston of White River Junction, VT.

The Super Sportsman feature was an action-packed show with the addition of Mark McClay of Charlestown, NH and Ricky Bly of Claremont joining the field for the first time. George Baldwin of Lowell, MA in the #LL and Jay Coulter’s #77 brought the field to the line, but things changed quickly as Baldwin got loose out of turn four on lap three and several cars slipped past Baldwin as the veteran hung on and straightened it out. Baldwin would be involved in an incident with the #28 of Bly later on and faded to the back as the handle went away. It was Chris Curtis of Rutland, MA in the #26 who took the lead and held off hard-charging McClay and Bly at the line for the win.

Next Saturday night, May 27th, it’s the only visit of 2006 of the PASS North Super Late Models to the awesome asphalt at Canaan. The fans that braved the weather Saturday and got the discount coupons can use them on May 27th.
