BARRE, VT – In an off-handed way it was only fitting that Mother Nature was the only winner Sunday at Barre’s Thunder Road in the Casella Mother’s Day Sportsman Series 100. Drenching rain storms rolled through Central Vermont putting a stop to action at the high-banked quarter-mile stock car oval.
The event, which is the second of seven in 2006 for the American-Canadian Tour’s (ACT) Sportsman Series, has been rescheduled for Sunday, June 4. In addition to the 100 lap main event, Thunder Road’s Late Model, Allen Lumber Street Stock and PowerShift Warrior divisions will also be in action.
The winners of the Mother’s Day “Official Mom” contest will make their officiating debuts on June 4 as well. For the past several weeks, the track has held a contest where kids of all ages could nominate their mother to be an “Official for a Day” through an essay. The ten contest winners will actively participate in the track’s various departments including flagger, pace car driver, race director, scoring, handicapping and more.
Post time for the rescheduled Casella Mothers Day 100 on Sunday, June 4 will be 1:30 pm.
