Now with all that out of the way.....Let's make some laps!
Not so much Trivia (cuz I don't know the answer), but you crafty vets out here know you're stuff, so maybe you can help me out.
The Legendary Bob Potter won 2 of his 6 Modified titles in 1976 & 1983. I'm trying to verify if he drove in his more familiar #51 like he did during his 1980, 1986 & 1987 championship seasons - or did he drive in another #, like when he took the Ceravolo #31 to the 1989 title.
He drove for Art Barry in the #14 for the 76 title, and Roger Bonville in the #51 for the 83 and also the 80 title. Sid, the #51 he drove to the 86 and 87 titles and 5 Stafford titles was owned by the "legendary" Jiggs Beetham.
O-dub-ya, it's the #14 for '76, huh? (man this is getting confusing) I just read a caption for a pic of him in a #11 reading "1976 Modified Champion"... but it was in the 1977 yearbook.
So he ran the #14 in 1976, the #11 in 1977, #51 in 1980, 1986, 1987 and #31 in 1989... correct?
heck, Potter has driven everything but the pace car at WSB. Back in the '70s he ran the Fred Beaber 716, Norm Kies 21, Big Smitty's 1 (1975 & ?), Art Barry's 14 & 21, Roger Bonville's 110 ('72, 73...) and that is what I can remember, so there could be more.
I would say the #1 in '76 and the #51 in 83.
Doh, I just looked and OWR beat me. I have been going through my stack of old papers.
Sid, Spd, Rich, or RMF can confirm (or deny) for sure if BP won his 76 title in the Art Barry #14. I was a whipper snapper in 76, but I remember Bob in Art's Capri bodied #14 whipin up on the competition but guys used to change rides like we change socks back in those days so I could be wrong.
Well, right now, I have nothing in recorded print for 1976 (programs, newspapers, Speedway Scenes, etc) so hopefully I'll score one at some point and that'll give me the definitive answer.
Sid, I just got off the phone with Bob, cause we's tight. In 1976 he used 4 different car's to win that title. He drove the 11 RI. coupe for 4 races, the Norm Kies #21 for one race and Art's #14 the rest of the year. The last race he blew up in warm ups and got a ride in a Dickie Doo car that Doo just bought and had both cars there. Bob thinks it was the #06 that Doo bought and he won the last Twin 25s with it . Bob was driver champ, and Art Barry was owner champ. The first championships for both. He won like 12 races that year. And yes in 1983 he won in Roger's 51. Richie.
Sid, I don't mind helping in anyway, shape or form. My only guestion is what is the deal with the RONI? I see it come up, But i don't understand it. Is it a inside joke you people have? Or am i missing something lol! Richie.
Is it just me or is all the 'Roni" talk making Chinese food sound good?
Great to see so many of our knowledgeable members spreading the wealth. Would be nice to see the legend "B.P." involved here someday. Perhaps some of our crafty "veterans" could work on something there.
Once again thanx to everyone for keeping the Trivia Challenge going so well. It is appreciated. WMT

Awesome. I have a scanner and tell him I can scan any thing he has from back then. I need to beat on Rene Dugas. He has a lot but does not want to have to dig for it and I understand it is not organized.
Richie - the Roni is just me and OWR's retro term for the winning anwser... ya know, like the Match Game or Name that Tune used to give out to some contestants...
Corny indeed, but did ya think it wouldn't be..
And hell ya - if BP has got anything, that'd be great. I'm relying on you guys to help round up the troops as my research is too intense to do so myself... Email me anytime
SPD, I tried Dugas several times now and even offered to go through all his stuff myself and he won't let me. I would and I'm sure many of us would also go. Hell, I'll organize everything he's got if it would help out this cause. And maybe when someone needs a picture of a car he will not only have it, but know where to find it. Richie.
Hey guys - just a reminder of the dedicated pages for my project on jp.com - the FAQ's especially help answer alot of reoccuring questions and concerns about this endeavor. Hopefully it eases some hesitancy on some possible contributors part as well - which is common and expected... and understandable.
Without jp.com & makinglaps I wouldn't have near the exposure to accomplish this, so at the midst of sounding like a broken record, thanks again for all your interest and support... Everything from a referral to scanning programs to lending me boxes of memorabilia helps
Ya never know where valuable info comes from. For example... After reading Richie's post I went into the vault: the last race I have for '76 was on 9-18 (the week after Bob Polverari won the Stinger 100 Open show) and I had both Potter and Dick Dunn listed, with no laps, no explaination for the duel names listed. So not only does Richie's post turn a seeming discrepancy into finding the winners of a twin format event, it also gave me the lap count for 2 features...
Without the my forum help - stuff like that could take forever... or not happen at all
Just a little detailed insight at how you guys are helping me Git-R-Done
