“New Smyrna Champion, True Value Modified Stars Head to Portland”
With the green flag dropping on the pre-season race car show circuit this weekend, race fans will have the opportunity to meet many top names in New England motor sports as Racin Preview 2006 will be presented at the Portland Expo, Portland Me., on Friday Feb 24, and Saturday Feb 25.
Included in the mix will be the newly crowned modified champion, Andy Seuss, Hampstead, NH., driver of the potent One Stop Toy Shop, Rockingham Boat, # 70 modified that won the 40th World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing title this past weekend at the famed New Smyrna, Florida Speedway. The 18 year old racer, a winner last season at the Seekonk, Mass Speedway, and the True Value Modified Racing Series most popular driver award recipient, will be on hand Saturday to meet and greet fans at a scheduled autograph session from 12 noon to 2 PM.
Also on hand will be 36 year racing veteran and the founder of the TVMRS Jack Bateman, Canaan, NH and 2005 “Close Call” Rookie of the Year driver Luke Royea, New Hampton, NH.
Bateman has raced in several different classes of competition throughout his career but is best known for being a steady performer in modified racing whether competing under the NASCAR sanction or under the present TVMRS banner.
Royea is no stranger to the winners circle as he is an accomplished dirt racer with much success at the Canaan Fairgrounds. In 2005, he purchased a former Bateman car, made the switch to asphalt racing and was voted the “Close Call” rookie honors.
All three drivers will be available for pictures and autographs. The Bateman #17 and the Royea # 2 will both be on display at the two day show.
