PASS announces Southern Tour

The following press release is from PASS racing, Inc.

Announcing The PASS Southern Super Late Model Series

(Naples, ME – February 8, 2006) Tom Mayberry, President of PASS Racing, Inc announced today that the fast growing series is expanding again with the addition of the PASS Southern Super Late Model Series for 2006.

After months of discussions with racers, track owners, promoters, and engine and car builders, it became clear that there is a need for a strong Super Later Model touring series at asphalt tracks throughout the South. To that end, PASS will run up to an eight race series in 2006 with a view to expanding the series in 2007.

PASS is starting its sixth year of conducting Super Late Model races from Connecticut to Nova Scotia and Quebec in the Northeast. A PASS show is usually a one-day event of 150 green-flag laps, but there are also 250-lap and 300-lap events. Over 120 teams participate in PASS races annually from the 5/8th-mile Thompson International Speedway in E. Thompson, CT to the 3/10-mile D-shaped Scotia Speedworld in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

PASS also has an economy-minded Modified Division that is now in its third year, and just introduced the PASS Outlaw Late Model Series that will be running a 16-race schedule split into two divisions -- eight races in the North (Maine) and eight in the Central (NH) division.

The season will open on Saturday April 15th at historic Hickory Motor Speedway in Newton, NC for 150 green-flag laps of PASS racing action. On June 17th, it’s off to the 4/10-mile Florence Motor Speedway in Florence, SC, and then it’s Tri-County Motor Speedway in Hudson, NC for the 4th of July Spectacular complete with Fireworks both on and off the track! On October 6th, it’s back to Tri-County for more PASS action. On October 21st, the Series will make its second visit to Florence Motor Speedway, and on November 11th, Hickory will be the scene of an extra distance show. There are on-going discussions with Southern National in Kenly, NC to fill out an eight-race schedule for 2006, and an announcement will be coming shortly.

Mayberry said, “Our plan is to repeat what we saw happen in the Northeast as fans who love the speed and excitement of the side-by-side racing of the Super Late Models came back to the local race tracks when PASS came to town. The key to success is to treat the racers fairly and give the fans more than they expected when they walked in the gate.”

There will be an informational meeting in the Charlotte area at the end of February or the first week of March. The date will be announced within the next week. In addition, the rules package will also be available shortly. Check the PASS website at www.proallstarsseries.com to keep up with the latest news.
