Now with all that out of the way.....Let's make some laps!
Wow! Only an eight race schedule. Sure looks like it could the begining of the end for the series. But then again with the quality of competion we have seen lately at many of the events, will anybody notice.
Beginning in 2006 and continuing in 2007, NASCAR will implement several Grand National Division changes in an effort to reduce the cost of competing in the Busch North Series (which will be re-named the Busch East Series) and the AutoZone West Series. These changes include a less-costly "spec" engine, as well as composite bodies.(NASCAR PR)(12-28-2005)
Well, I guess it costs less to compete in 8 races vs. 20 as long as you have the car & equipment already. But that is a big cash outlay for the new 'Spec' engine & composite body for only 8 races. But I'm sure they know what their doing!
Nice to see that NASCAR is finally starting to look at lowering the costs a little. This series has been on life support too long. If the car counts get any lower then they have been there won't be much racing going on. Tom Curley made me a believer in the spec engines with the close competion on the ACT since they went that route.
