WEBER VS BESTWICK ???? make a choice

These were all extracted from http://insider.speedtv.com/viewtopic.php?t=88479

Bill Weber is rapidly gaining ground on Murray Walker and Dan Quayle for having the most gaffs in public...for those of you who don't live 'round these parts, Bill Weber is the Nextel Cup broadcast booth person for NBC, alongside Wally Dallenbach and Benny Parsons.

Feel it again...
Wally: "It's amazing how fast you get shot up the race track after spinning through the grass like that"
Bill: "What's it feel like?"
Wally: "Like.....how it looked"

New glasses...
(Jimmy Johnson beats Matt Kenseth off pit road...Bill says that Matt won the race off pit road. Benny and Wally question him about it...)
Bill: "Well, I looked at the graphic and it said Kenseth came out first."
Wally: "Look with your eyes..."

Definitions...
(Pit reporter describes needing to be patient.)
Bill: "Wally, what's the opposite of patient?"
Wally: "Uhh......impatient."

From the Office of Obvious
(Stanton Barrett is sitting backwards on the track.)
Bill: "I think Barrett was in that caution"
Benny: "Ya think????"

Let's try that again...
(Dale Jarrett recieves the "Lucky Dog" pass as the first car a lap down.)
Bill: "Dale Jarrett is the lucky dork."

Who's on first?
Bill: "They withdrew the yellow."
Benny: "You mean they withdrew the green."
Bill: "Yeah, they waved off one to go."

Flat car
Wally: "I think Robby's got a flat right front."
Bill: "The car or the tire?"

Errr...how's that again?
Bill: "You've gotta be careful not to be too careful."

Only kids should say that, Bill...
Bill: "Ryan Newman busts a move, goes by Elliott Sadler."

Airhead...
(Booth announcers Wally & Benny discussing experience of what it sounds like when you're in a car crash, both of them ex-drivers).
Bill: "What's it sound like when you go airborne?"

heres the deal folks,  i remember very well on ken squier days on CBS in the 80s and early 90s, bill weber is striking filmier to him, RI resident allen bestwick came to me as a know it all at first but you know what, he was better at calling the races because of his knowlage of the sport and probally studys the facts before he even goes on air, bill weber is only 1 step above chris myers when it comes to nascar wisdom, i dont know what the NBC execs were even thinking when they put bestwick in the pits, i thought it was a demotion.... all i got to say is BRING BACK BESTWICK IN THE BOOTH!!!!!!!!!

I was on a flight from Charlotte to Orlando before Daytona with Weber a few years back. He's just as bad in person.

The whole TNT booth should be cleaned out. Turning the volume down and listening to the radio is better.

It is funny that this topic came up , I have been saying to myself while watching the races that the announcers seem to be a bunch of stuck up aireheads . I agree they need to go . We need to bring in some younger people wo do not think we are stll racing the cars of the seventies . "BP" still thinks you drive the cars like when he raced , and how many times is he going to say "whoah" for nothing . Every lap he thinks someone is crashing , probably himself .

Bill Weber needs to be strapped into a car taking a few rolls at Talladega . The he might know what a crash sounds like . and just to help we will install a monitior infront odf him so he can see the graphics and be sure he did not win the race off pit road .After they scrape him out of the car , the ambulance can bust a move straight to the ER.

Wally Dallenbach needs to go to Wally World ... and stay there . He can build his own race track where he will win every race . He can hire "BP" as his cook and his crew cheif . And judt so Weber is not left out , they will have him announe the races . Maybe he can handle one car at a time .

anon,

it was good when bestwick and bp were handling things and atleast BP did the homerisms<dohhhhhhhhhhhhh> which was sometimes entertaining........ wally is a driver that only was good on road course....... the rest he sort of choked,  and hes a expert anyalist????   more like a expert screw up when it came to racing in the cup series.....

WMT,

i am not an expert on what the car might sound like if it was in the air... but i have a guy feeling that it sounds like if you were on a dirt bike/atv when it catches air<reeeeeeeeeeeeee>....  as stated above.. wally needs to step side and even let kenny wallace or someone that has a clue on oval track or racing period, maybe we would beleave kenny if he did a lap around say darlington for instance,  NBC is wasting there money on fruit loops like weber and wally, but then again its entertainment<hahahaahahha hear what he said, what a moron>  what is your take people ?????

Well guys, I have to disagree with you on Benny but thats just personal preference I have always liked him in the booth. Wally, I couldn't agree with you more about. Expert analyst? He was a mid packer at best in his Cup days and Weber, well he just plain stinks as a booth man and a pit reporter. Fox's broadcast team is no prize either DW, Larry Mac, and Hammond I don't know about anybody else but I can only take them in small doses, and very small ones at that and they are so pro Nascar as well. Even are own Mike Joy, is getting to be a little to pro Nascar at times. Once again just my opinion for what it's worth, how about everybody else out there, what's your takes?

accually to tell you the truth,

the fox team is not really that bad.........   are own mike joy, larry mac and DW give alot of insight on how racing is, larry mac, a winning crew chief, DW , a winning driver at one time, and mike joy, a guy who does alot of reasearch, if you see the auctions tapings and mike joys appearence in windtunnel, he states that instead of studying hall at the school he was reading car mags lol.... in any sence,   the fox team can be annoying at times but in the long run, someone that IS NOT a old school fans like some of us can turn on the tv, watch the race and really learn on whats going on, only person that tries to be like the 3 is chris myers, personally he tries to hard to represent nascar and that god hes trying.... at least he aint bill weber and looks down at the cue card and says "im chris myers"

Seeing as I'm one of the people who chatted on the "Weberisms" thread (under the same name here), I can say this: BRING BESTWICK BACK TO THE BOOTH!

Thank you.

i have to agree with you mandy,

imo, the best network to watch a race on is a network with people that know what there talking about, and weber and wally dont....... if ESPN is comming back in 2007....... why not have bob jenkins<sp> jerry punch and BP......  now that is classic
