a crowned champ, with a blunder or 2, HOMESTEAD RAMBLINGS

2 time champ,  a race blunder, and a door to door finish, what a way to finish the 2005 season in the Nextel cup series.......

congrats to tony stewart on winning his 2nd championship in these many years....  now the 1st blunder was to win the chase YOU MUST win a race while the 10 race chase, NOT AT ALL, Tony won a gooseegg <0> and had 8 top 10s and a gooseegg once again in the DNFS catergory,  the numbskull moment of the race was also has to be the biggest blunders of the season, of course with the championship hanging in the balance, you are going to hope for a yellow, many with either disagree or agree with me on what i am about to say,  if your tire is either going flat or going to fall off the car period, instead of risking 3 postions in the points, would you pit for tires and loose a lap?  of course i am talking about the 48 hendrick camp, these guys deserve the "numbskull move of the race"   if i was a crew chief, i would cerently make sure i would only lose 1 lap in the pits instead of blowing it,  but as the saying goes, "what is done is done" and i hope they relize what they did,

now to the drama at the end of the race,  casey mears i thought was on his way to win a race finally, but this minor blunder cost him a chance of the win,  too fast in the excess road going to the pits, and when he took the target car in the grass he never guessed he would try to mow it also, in that moment i think the car was damaged in the front valence and the car was not the same in the last 12 laps,  casey as a driver needs to contorl himself and pose himself so he can win a race and not let things get to him,.....

now to the finish..... and what a finish it was,  mark martin doing alot better in turn 3 than biffle was in 1 and 2.......with these 2 drivers racing so very clean, i was very proud to see a finish that ended this season on a good note, with last weeks black eye and what was found out later on,  this was a way to recover from that, now we look forward to the 2006 season. will DEI rebound from a disasterous season? will jeff gordon also recover from being outside the chase ? and will roush get a stranglehold on the chase like they did last year??? and plus can tony stewart dominate the season like he did this year?  time will soon tell,  as the curtain falls on this season, it was a good ride, and i hope you enjoyed the season like i did...... till then,

Yes, Congrats to Smoke & Zippy and the crew of the #20.

Scott, what is the black eye you refer to? Kurt Busch or did I miss something else? Kurt made his bed and got what he deserved as far as I am concerned. He has a lot of talent but needs to go back to Saturday night short tracks if he has the attitude reported by the officers.

Anyway, great finish to the race. I need to watch the tape to see the first 245 laps as I was out with the family (Harry Potter, lol). Carl Edwards is alright and could be a great one in the making. Biffle flat threw that thing in there on the high side and prayed it would bite and Martin is such a great clean driver. Glad he will be back for 1 more year.

Anyway, some time off from NASCAR and I for one will rethink the whole tact they are on and if it is worth my time. Racing is a sickness for me and I try to medicate it with TV when I am not involved in a hands way but if they go with the same body style for all and then NASCAR can control how the teams do by how they give concessions in HP they will go the way of the ASA series in my book.
