The Finale, "A Reality" Day 2: News and Results

When I looked out the window this morning I thought, OMG it looks like rain!  After reading the forecast on weather.com for Waterford, Ct., it appears that there are only areas of dense fog, as well as cloudy skys, but the good news is that this evening bears only a 30% chance of isolated thunderstorms after 9:30 pm.

Whew, a sigh of relief...I personally haven't been to a race since last year, and with plans to attend the Bowl's festivities this afternoon, I am relieved.

There a quite a few questions to be answered today.  Will Ron Yuhas hold off the persistent Rob Summers and attain his very first SK Championship in what is said to be his last year racing?  Can those three guys and maybe more return to Ct to catch the green, and how will they hold up mechanically after a grueling 100 laps of competition?  Hopefully it will be a safe race.

Don't forget to bring an unwrapped toy to the Hoosier truck today for one of the greatest charities ever, Toys for Tots!

We will be back with news from the track as soon as it starts coming in, so stay tuned.

I HOPE THE RAIN STAYS AWAY TO GET THIS RACE IN.( I JUST GOT OF A DANBURY WEB SITE AND THEY SAID IT WAS MISTING IN DANBURY.) HOPEFULLY THE RACING WILL AS GOOD AS WE HAD AT THE NORTH SOUTH SHOOTOUT.

THE SK'S RAN FIRST LAST NIGHT.  SO I THINK THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO MAKE IT BACK UP IN TIME FOR THE START OF THE RACE.

And the Nema Midget Champion is Ben Seitz, who in champion form also took the checker in the Nema Midget main event today.  Runner-up was car owner of the champ, Joey Payne followed by newly crowned ROOKIE of The YEAR Danbury's own Mike Keeler!

The Mini Stock main event is just about over, and word has it that Richard Brooks, who started 14th is really a threat to take the win today.

Back with more news shortly!

I cannot tell you how much I appreciated the chance to be there to support OWR and the team.  If it wasn't for you cyds_22, I wouldn't have been able to provide those live results, as well as be there in person.

Thanks again buddy...!

Congratulations to Robbie, Ernie and Glenn on overcoming this season of naysayers.  Your devotion only proved that you guys had it in you from the start.  A well-deserved championship!  And Robbie, who ran more laps at Waterford than any other driver this weekend, 158 total SK Modified Laps, and the extended Late Model feature bringing the Botticello mount home in 5th!  Great Job!

See you in January!

well, we had an interesting finale, knocking in the tin around the radiator and causing it to overheat, but we were able to open it up, and get him back out there for a hard fought 7th place. we moved up to 9th in the standings, with one less race since you cant throw out dq's. overall a fairly good season with some tough times thrown in.

I would like to offer my congratulations to the whole 11 team, and the 6 and 3 teams as well for putting on a great show right until the end for the title. Robbie & co worked very hard to get to this and deserve it fully. They helped us out at times which was very helpful. they are a class act, on and off the track. I am gald that we were able to pit next to them this year. I was even lucky enough to get a quick shower of champagne from a certain eye in the sky. Congrats again, heres to looking forward towards next year.

WMT, Benny, Cyds thanks very much. Also, thanks to Rob and Bob Summers, and Ernie.R for coaxing me back into the weekly grind that is the Bowl, and giving me the opportunity to be part of this championship team. And also to all the drivers, team members, and fans that offered up there congrats, that meant as much to me as the actual accomplishment of the championship. And I cant forget the Brat of course, for giving up every Saturday with me for 7 odd months and fielding the results calls from the track. Finally, I would like to dedicate my small contribution to this tittle to my Dad, wish you were here to enjoy it with me, miss you pops....RIP

Thanks Spd. This is the third time I have been lucky enough to be at the, "Head table" at a banquet as part of a championship team. As they say, you always remember the first one, but to me there all sweet. With your affiliation with the Farmer, the championship thing must be old hat though by now? How many does he have total Spd? I am guessing 11?  6 LM tittles at Waterford, 3 LM tittles at Stafford, 1 LM at Thompson and 1 Pro Stock championship at Thompson. Hey this would be a good trivia question!

Yeah, I'll have to figure that out. My very first one(s) were very special. It was 1972 through 75 with Dick Dunn & Budas Bullit and 73 with Big Mike Daigneault, I was in high school and getting in the pits underage and working on champions cars in both divisions at the same time. They were the only two divisions back then and there were 4 heats & 1 or 2 consi's and a lot of cars went home without qualifying so the competition was tough.

C'mon now Spd be nice lol! The Bowl banquets have come along way since the days of having them at Ocean Beach in NL. What's that saying? I went to a fight and hoped a banquet broke out?
