Now with all that out of the way.....Let's make some laps!
Good Morning, from eastern Connecticut where the sky is blue, the sun is hot, and the temperature with the wind is actually in the 40's.
Racing has begun in Thompson with the Late Models and the NEMA Midgets completing their feature events for the day, the Limited Sportsman are on the track now. We plan on bringing you as much of the news and results as possible from the track, as it happens, for as long as the eyewitnesses can stand the cold. I am sure they will make it for the day events, but I cannot promise any info from the later racing, ie; Outlaw events, as rumor has it that the curfew for the racing today will be 3:00am Monday morning. Hard to believe.
After the first part of today's festivities, tentavtively at 4:15pm, we will turn to modseriesscene.com to follow the live results from the Tour race, but will be back after that with any other news and results available.
Rick Gentes took the very first checkered flag for the day during the Late Model feature, and perennial veteran Noki Finoro won the NEMA Midget event. (Sue, I will try to get more info for you later, but as of right now this is all we have. The Eye had to work until 1:00pm today and is heading up 395 as I write this.

The Sunoco Modified feature sounds like a mini-Connecticut Modified Shootout. A lot of Stafford representitives. The race must have been awesome. Nice win for Malave! Mom's going to be happy :)
A thrilled Ron Rixham wins the TIS Mini Stock championship! Even though he finished 5th with a blown motor, he had enough points to win the championship. Shelley Perry held off the rest of the field for the last available Mini Stock win of the year. Congratulations to everyone.
The ARTS race has been completed and the Whelen Modified Tour cars are getting ready to take the green. It is 4:13 pm as I post this and the tentative schedule called for a 4:15 pm start. Not so bad for Don Hoenig and associates on their time estimates....
A nice safe WMT race for all...

...seems that only 10 laps into the race the championship may have been undeniably decided as Ted Christopher has wrecked his car almost irrepairably (enough to prevent a championship run). Our Eyewitness says that on a restart, he moved down going into turn one and actually may have caused the wreck himself. Hirschman may be able to just concentrate on the win... Caution is out, and they are getting ready to go green shortly..

Although there is yet to be an official full finish posted, (undoubtedly because it is yet to be available), MSS has an unofficial rundown. Click on the link below:
I would really like to thank MSS and everyone over there for such comprehensive coverage of the 2005 WMT season. As a fan who can't get to the track, I really appreciate being able to check the board periodically and get the current running order. Thanks so much!
I did get a call regarding the top 10 and it matched exactly to what they have. Congratulations Tony Hirschman and team for another well-deserved championship. I know many people like to see it come down to the wire, but I am sure Tony breathed a sigh of relief when he was told TC was officially out of the race at lap 30 or so.
Certainly also have to congratulate the local #4 for a great win, but actually all the competitors for sticking it out and putting on another great World Series for the fans. There was a while there we never thought they would get the race in at all.
Apparently the second and third spot was almost a photo finish! Can't wait for the face-to-face report!
The Busch North Series is running their main event now, and there a quite a few more features to go. We will try to bring results from as many as possible.
Left to run (after the BNS):
PRO 4 MOD FEATURE - 25 LAPS
TIS MOD FEATURE - 20 LAPS
OUTLAW MINI FEATURE - 15 LAPS
OUTLAW STRICTLY FEATURE - 20 LAPS
OUTLAW LATE MODEL FEATURE - 25 LAPS
anybody guessing on what time they will conclude today's festivities?

After a really smooth day of racing, the Busch North race is under a red flag condition at about lap 65 because the lighting system has failed. Track management is doing everything in their power to find the problem and correct it, but for now red prevails.
At lap 65, Eddie MacDonald is leading, with Jerry Marquis second, and Mike Stefanik third. Andy Santerre is running somewhere around 10th after having to start dead last.
Will try to keep you all posted.

Thanks for this anonymous correction. We try to do these results from cell contact, as I am not at the track. Sometimes it is very difficult to hear, and there are sometimes controversial finishes not known to the eyewitnesses. We appreciate when fans like you corrrect us, and we do try to get them udated as soon as possible. But, none of these LIVE across the finish line results are official until posted on thompsonspeedway.com, or until released by the TIS (or respective track) and NASCAR officials. If you notice, I try to say unofficial in each thread, but sometimes I miss one.
We do really appreciate it...
and actually there were only two wrong. I apologize to these two drivers.
Bratmaster, no need to apologize. You have a great thing going here and it can be next to impossible to remember who finished 3rd sometimes, nevermind the whole top 10.
Kurt Vigneaut, was the winner of the TIS Modified feature. The Pro Four and Outlaw Division faeture results will be posted at a later time, when they become available from the track web site. That will do it for our coverage from the Big T, thanks for "surfing" in everyone.
It was a great day/night of racing. It would have been better if the 55 made the tour race but hey thats racing right. I stayed until the end tonight i know jeff zuidema won the pro-4 mod race. Dave Trudeau won the outlaw mini race, i must say that race was fun to watch there was cars flipping over and everything else. In the outlaw street stock race George Rego won the race in the number 1. In the late model race Rick Gentes or someone driving his car took off like a bat out of hell and won. Even with 14 races i left the track before 10 o'clock.
Overall the day went well, with the weather absolutly beautiful. the only hiccup was the lights shutting off during the busch race, good thing it happened under yellow. I only caught the supers, sk's, the tour, and the busch cars, most of the rest of the time i was in the pits with a friend who works on a tour car (one that was in victory lane). it was pretty fun, im still trying to figure out how the 44 sk ended up that high in the air, it seemed like he was almost perpendicular to the ground before he landed on the 12. it appeared the dominant car won the feautures i saw, with the 6, 11, 4, and 77 all really waxing the field each. tough breaks for a lot of drivers like Teddy wrecking early, Matt Hirschman, Eric Beers and others getting caught in a mishap in turn 2. A fun time was had in trip number 3 to thompson. lets hope the weather is good for the Bowl finale this weekend.
