Thompson Speedway and Nascar officials have once again because of the impending bad weather, cancelled the World series event until OCT 28TH, 29TH and 30TH. Here is the full press release from the track:

NEW DATE AND ADMISSION PRICE ROLL BACK FOR WORLD SERIES.

THOMPSON, CT.  The Thompson International Speedway has announced a major change in the year’s end racing schedule along with a roll back in admission prices for The World Series of Speedway Racing. The changes announced are based on both weather forecasts for this weekend and reasonable expectations of seasonal conditions.

            Thompson’s management team in conjunction with NASCAR of Daytona Beach, Florida have decided that the two remaining events slated for Thompson will be combined into one, two-day edition of the World Series. The new lineup will include the traditional World Series racing divisions plus the addition of the Busch North Series.  As a result, an entirely new combination of the originally scheduled June 12th New England Dodge Dealers- Pepsi 100 for the Busch North Series and the Xtramart World Series of Speedway Racing events will be run the weekend of October 29th & 30th.  

            With every weather forecast predicting rain for Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday of this weekend, officials felt it was not right to ask World Series fans and competitors to make, in some cases a several hundred mile trip, back to Thompson when the outlook for racing this weekend is so bleak.

            This change will make for one of the most incredible racing weekends ever at Thompson. Not only will it include the traditional excitement and variety of the World Series, but it will be a championship weekend in the truest sense of the word. On the line will be the championship for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, the Busch North Series, the ISMA Super Modifieds, four of Thompson’s six NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series divisions and several others as well. It will mark the final points race for all divisions and the competition should be at its very best.

            The price roll back comes in that the pit fee for this combined World Series has been rolled back to $45.00 and adult general grandstand admission is now set at $35.00. Junior tickets will be priced at $10.00. These prices are the same as the original Twin 100s race back in June. Anyone who purchased a higher priced pit pass or general admission ticket for the October World Series will be entitled to a refund of the difference between their ticket or pit pass price and the new rolled back prices.

            It is important for fans and competitors alike to know that the tickets that they purchased must be presented at the ticket window. Tickets or pit passes purchased for the June 12th New England Dodge Dealers- Pepsi Twin 100s will be accepted as rain checks.

Tickets or pit passes purchased for the October 14th-16th XTRAMART World Series of Speedway Racing will also be accepted as rain checks but they will qualify for a partial refund. That refund will be in the amount that represents the difference in price roll back.

            “We have examined every option available to us and by combining these two major events into one super event and rolling back the prices seemed to be the best for both fans and competitors alike,” stated track owner Don Hoenig.

            The addition of the Busch North Series 100  to the World Series of Speedway racing along with the price roll back will offer fans the absolute best buy in entertainment to be found anywhere. Never before have race fans had the chance to see such variety as this all-new World Series of Speedway racing will offer. One hundred twenty five laps of open wheel competition from the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, one hundred laps of fender to fender Busch North racing and fifty laps of the incredible winged Super Modifieds. Add to this Thompson’s NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series divisions, and the amazing variety of the many additional racing classes that make up the World Series and you have a once in a lifetime racing weekend.
