Now with all that out of the way.....Let's make some laps!
Claremont, NH - Newport, NHs Mark Hayward earned his first career ACT Late Model Tour win at Twin State Speedway in Claremont, NH on Friday, July 30. Hayward took the lead from Twin State regular Aaron Fellows, who led the first 52 laps of the 100 lap event. Hayward held off the likes of Ben Rowe, current ACT Tour point leader Brian Hoar and Randy Potter over the remaining 48 laps to take the win.
Rowe took second while Fellows finished third. Potter and Jeff Zuidema rounded out the top five. TJ Watson worked his way from his 20th starting position to take sixth followed by John Donahue, Hoar, last weeks Beech Ridge winner Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. and rookie Austin Theriault completing the top ten.
The 100 lap event was the eighth on the 13 race 2010 ACT Late Model Tour schedule. It was completed in just over one hour and eight minutes and had eight cautions including a 13 minute and 14 second red flag after rookie Chris Riendeau had a hard hit into the front stretch wall on lap 90. Riendeau was ok.
Hayward is now the ninth ACT competitor to earn himself an invite to the second annual ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Saturday, September 18. He joins Nick Sweet, Eddie MacDonald, Patrick Laperle, Karl Allard, Dave Pembroke, Miles Chipman, Brian Hoar and Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. as those with an invite.
The ACT Late Model Tour has next weekend off before heading north of the border to Circuit Riverside Speedway in Ste-Croix, QC for a combination 200 lap event with its sister series, the Serie ACT Castrol Edge. The point counting event for both series will be on Saturday, August 14.
