2010 FONDA SPEEDWAY - From The Rotterdamn Square Mall Car Show

I had the chance to visit the show today and took several pictures. I'll be posting more as time allows, but here are a few to get started with. I'll start with the Modifieds that were on hand. A special thanx to Craig Ritchie for his kindness, my son loves the lucky dog.

Wow, that is a lot of fine looking race cars! Are the Mod looking ones just sprints with the wing around the bottom? They look real narrow and centered under all that billboard material.

Nice looking late models and stricklies also.

Is Sid going to run one of those carts?

WMT, thanks for sharing.

Well Speed I will answer to the BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE.

The Modifieds are as far as I know DIRT legal. I know the 12a is Jack Johnson and he will run that car all over New York this season. I talked with Danny Varin who drives the Dover Brake #18 and he plans to run both Fonda and Utica-Rome Speedways with the same car. Up here this is what a Modified looks like. I was realyl surprised at how few are Troyer. Teo seems to be the standard I guess.

The "late models" are actually called Pro-Stocks at most tracks around here. Some beautiful looking cars for sure. I have only seen them at fonda once, but they run a hell of a race at Lebanon Valley. And their "strictly stocks" are some very nice machines as well.

I also look forward to the Empire State Sprints. They put on a hell of a show. Definitely was a good time and got me more puimped up for 2010 to start. I was surpised at the amount of cars and the drivers there singing autographs.

WMT, I understand that they have their own division and rules I guess I just want to understand what they are like underneath that tin. From their silhouette of the ****pit they look very narrow much like a sprint car and I am curious if the chassis is similar to a sprint or more what we consider an asphalt mod to be like.

And those are some great pics.

Good questions Speed. Hopefully we can get some answers. And thank you for the compliments. I will have tons from Waterford and have a bunch from Darlingtons Museum to post as well.
