Now with all that out of the way.....Let's make some laps!
After talking with a friend about the possibilities, I thought I would start a post .
What track would you like to see the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour compete at ?
My answer would have to be POCONO . And no not the 3/4 mile track they raced on for the Race of Champions . Let them put the SuperSpeedway bodies back on and race the 2.5 mile track like they used to .
I am VERY interested to hear where other fans would like to see the tour so PLEASE post your responses. If you took the time to view this, you should respond .

i would wish they would race at usa speedway in fl.......... kind of like thompson but it is a 3/4 track...... high speeds in the strights........... then a sharped banked corners.......... would have a good race there.........
Wow , Scott good choice . I have had the pleasure of visiting the Lakeland Florida track for the Hooters Pro-Cup . I agree that would be a GREAT place for the Modifieds to race .
Thanx Scott. Hope more people respond soon.

Ben that is pretty much how I feel as well , I will go anywhere the modifieds go . Bristol would be absolutely INSANE . I would be first in line if it ever was to happen .

OpenWheel , you know WE have some crazy memories of trips to the Big O . I would LOVE to see the Tour go back there . Not sure if it can be done with these new the track has to be NASCAR rules . But if they go back , you know who is riding shotgun with you . And Richmond MUST return , thius is one of the b est tracks for Modifieds. I have heard rumores of an Allstar-Showdown at Richmond . But we all know how the rumors go with the Modifieds . you know like the TV deal for instance .
Wonder if the "furcoat gang" is interested in Oswego as well LOL.
Thanx for the reply.

Another track I would love to see the Tour go to is North Wilkesboro . Here is a perfectly good race track that the almighty in Daytona had given up on . A combination race with the new NASCAR Southern Modified Tour would be PERFECT here . And any money they take in would be better than the nothing they are making now .
Hey , I can dream can't I ?

Any place down south here would suit me fine! Love to get the chance to see some of our friends again. Richmond sounds good. They are opening a new track, Shenandorah Speedway- just out side Harrisonberg VA, and it's repoted to be a great track. 3/8 mile - I think banking is 6-8 & 12.
Personally I would love to see the Mods run at Thunder Road. Call me a bullring fan if you will! With it's 35 degree banking and 1/4 distance, T-Road is basically a baby Bristol.
If they put the superspeedway bodies on then they aren't the open wheel mods I love. I do like the speedway look but... know what I mean.
I want them to race in the domed track in Plainfield, CT. What is that susposed to be? 1 mile. That would be cool, Picture this. A freezing cold day in January, no Daytona on TV for a month yet, so screw it. Lets grab a coat, scrap the windshield and head over to Plainfield and watch the Snowman Nationals Tour Mod 250 mile race in a warm indoor race track, complete with a Hooters with box seats.
Also I believe in order for the Modified Tour to grow they need to take a few steps back . Superspeedway bodies so they can run at larger venues SAFELY . And to return to some forgotten tracks like IRP , Richmond , Watkins Glenn , Dover, Pocono and Daytona.

Ok, the problems I see with superspeedways and fenders is they will go to fast! By that I mean NASCAR does not want the headlines taken from the Cuppers that the guys with no fenders are faster, even though there are very good engineering reasons why. By far the best races in NHIS are the Mods.
The Farmer has some stories about testing at NHIS when he was running tour mods. He said it was incredible. They couldn't go anywhere with windows so I believe it was Reggie that tossed them out and just flew after that. Then they had to put the restrictors in. I believe that is how the story goes. The Farmer said he loved the speed but I think people could get seriously hurt or killed and maybe 1 mile tracks and slower would suit the mods best.
I agree that mile tracks are best for the Mods , but they did run the 2.5 milers at Daytona and Pocono . A'New generation Superspeedway car is what we need . One where the bodie covers the nerf bars on both sides of the car , but still leave the open wheels. This would increase aerodynamics and could be used to make the car safer as there would be more to absorb the impact . Also all tracks would already have the SAFER barriers in place . Its just a thought .
I forgot a short track the Whelen Tour should return to Monadnock , they had PACKED houses for both TVMRS races .
