Mike Ewanitsko's return to the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour seems to be coming together . Mike is scheduled to have eye surgery in June to correct a problem that forced him to step aside from racing . Doctors expect him to have 20/20 vision after the surgery , and he will return to his last ride on the Tour , a car owned by Ed Whelen . Return dates vary from report to report , some say August 2nd at Stafford , some say August 6th at Riverhead , and others say August 18th at Thompson . Because Jeff Malave is registered as car number 17 on the Tour , Mike's last number , Ewanitsko plans to return with his familiar number 36. Plans for the 2006 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season are to run 10 to 12 races .
