ACT LM 9/13 Oxford Event PR

Oxford Champion Travis Adams Files ACT Entry

For Immediate Release                                        ACT-090908-1

OXFORD, ME Oxford Plains (ME) Speedway Track Champion Travis Adams has filed an entry for the New
England Dodge Dealers 150 Late Model stock car race at his home track on Saturday (Sept. 13), and will try for his
second career victory against the stars of the traveling American-Canadian Tour as they invade Oxford for the
third and final time this season.  Adams won the autumn ACT Late Model Tour event last year, and recently wrapped
up his third consecutive and fourth overall weekly racing championship at the 3/8-mile Oxford oval.
The Canton, ME racer won two weekly features on his way to the OPS championship, and would become the
second Oxford regular to take an ACT victory in 2008, joining Ricky Rolfe, if he were successful in the New
England Dodge Dealers 150.  Rolfe, of Albany Township, won an ACT Late Model Tour event at Oxford Plains Speedway
on April 26.  ACT regular Joey Pole Polewarczyk, Jr. of Hudson, NH won at Oxford on June 21.
Adams 2007 ACT Late Model Tour victory came after a hard-fought, lead-swapping duel with Vermonter Scott
Dragon.  The pair traded the top spot five times during the races 150 laps, the final time coming as Dragon
crashed with a lapped car with just ten laps remaining.
Adams will be joined by Maine natives Rolfe, OPS championship runner-up and two-time ACT winner Shawn
Martin of Turner, Neon Leon Heckbert of Wilton, and Glen Luce of Turner, who currently ranks eighth in ACT Late
Model Tour point standings.  Luce was the runner-up to NASCAR driver Kevin Harvick in Julys TD Banknorth 250 at
Oxford.
Out-of-town ACT stars expected at the New England Dodge Dealers 150 include championship point leader
Scott Payea, seven-time champion Jean-Paul Cyr, and cousins Scott and Brent Dragon, all of Milton, VT, Montréals
Patrick Laperle, Québec Citys Donald Theetge, former Oxford Plains Speedway winner Randy Potter of Groveton, NH,
and as many as 40 more.
Payea leads Laperle by 42 points (750-708) entering the New England Dodge Dealers 150, the 11th of 12
American-Canadian Tour championship events in 2008.  Qualifying begins at 2:00pm on Saturday, Sept. 13.  Oxford
Plains Speedway is located on Route 26 in Oxford, ME.  For more information, call (802) 244-6963 or visit

Scott and Demers Team up for ACT Race at Oxford

For Immediate Release                                        ACT-091008-1

OXFORD, ME A pair of Vermont stock car drivers will team up for the New England Dodge Dealers 150 at
Maines Oxford Plains Speedway on Saturday, as Phil Scott of Montpelier sits in for South Burlington driver
Trampas Demers in the Jiffy Mart #85VT Chevrolet.  Demers car owner, Charlie Smith, ranks 21st in American-
Canadian Tour Late Model Owners Championship standings, less than 100 points from the Top 10 with two events
remaining.  Demers is overseas on business, and Scott, the 2002 ACT champion, was called upon by Smith to take the
seat at Oxford.
Were excited to have Phil Scott step in while Trampas is gone, said Smith.  Obviously, Trampas would
rather race himself, but given the circumstances, we figured we would ask a veteran driver that is capable of
giving us some positive feedback on the race car.  Phil is very good, hes not a driver that tears up equipment,
and were not just going to take a lap and pull him off the track.  Were headed to Oxford with every good piece
we have, just as though Trampas were driving.
Scott will be the third pilot of the #85VT car this season, as both Demers and his father, veteran racer
Dennis Demers, have tallied points for the team.  Scott, on the other hand, has already raced for two other car
owners this season, himself and Pete Duto.  Dutos ride sits seventh in Owners Championship standings with a
combined driving effort from Scott and Brad Leighton.
Honestly, I was shocked when Trampas and Charlie asked me to drive for them, said Scott.  It takes a
lot of character for a race car driver to trust someone else with his car, and I have a lot of respect for Trampas
and Charlie asking me to fill in.  Its an honor, really, and Ill go to Oxford and try to win the race for them.
ACT Late Model Tour point leader Scott Payea of Milton, VT leads Montréals Patrick Laperle by 42 points,
750-708, entering the New England Dodge Dealers 150 on Saturday.  Seven-time ACT champion Jean-Paul Cyr ranks
third at 681 points, with John Donahue (649) and Randy Potter (641) completing the top five.  Other star drivers
expected include Brent Dragon, top-ten ACT driver and former Oxford Plains Speedway standout Glen Luce, and recent
Oxford ACT winners Ricky Rolfe and Joey Pole Polewarczyk, Jr.  Newly-crowned OPS track champion Travis Adams has
also filed an entry for the New England Dodge Dealers 150, a race in which he earned his first-ever ACT Late Model
Tour victory last year.
Qualifying action for the ACT Late Model Tours New England Dodge Dealers 150 begins at 2:00pm on
Saturday, Sept. 13.  Oxford Plains Speedway is located on Route 26 in Oxford, ME.  For more information, call
(802) 244-6963 or visit www.acttour.com.
