Rolfe Rides Hot Streak into ACT Event at Oxford Plains Speedway
For Immediate Release ACT-061708-1
OXFORD, ME Maine Late Model stock car racing star Ricky Rolfe is riding a seemingly unstoppable wave of momentum, one that he expects to continue through the American-Canadian Tours Dunkin Donuts 150 at Oxford Plains Speedway on Saturday (June 21) at 6:30pm. The Albany Township racer has won the last two weekly Late Model events at the 3/8-mile Oxford oval, and won the ACT New England Dodge Dealers 150 at the track in April. I love it when ACT comes to town, Rolfe said confidently, and with good reason: Rolfe is one of only two Oxford regulars to have multiple ACT Late Model Tour victories. His first came in 2002, and he also has a runner-up finish to his credit against the Tour regulars. The longer races are a fun challenge, said the two-time Oxford Plains Speedway Track Champion. Even qualifying is big challenge. The plus/minus qualifying system is exciting and really makes you work hard to pass a lot of cars. My goal with ACT is always to get in the show. Once Im in, then I can relax and have some fun and try to win the race. The all-time ACT vs. OPS series leans in favor of ACT Late Model Tour drivers, 10-6, but Oxford regulars Rolfe and Travis Adams (in October 2007) have won the two most recent ACT events at the track. Rolfe and Adams will be joined at the Dunkin Donuts 150 by Oxford home-trackers Shawn Martin, Dale Verrill, Billy Childs, Jr., and Travis Stearns among others. Adams, Childs, and Stearns each own weekly-event victories at OPS in 2008. ACT Late Model Tour stars hoping to take back the winners trophy include point leader Scott Payea of Vermont, winner of the most recent ACT event at Waterford (CT) Speedbowl, former Oxford winner Randy Potter of New Hampshire, and Maine natives Ron Henry of New Gloucester, Glen Luce of Turner, and Leon Heckbert of Wilton. A host of Canadian racers is also expected, including Patrick Laperle, Donald Theetge, Karl Allard, and rookie Jonathan Urlin. Green flag qualifying action for the Dunkin Donuts 150 begins at 6:30pm on Saturday, June 21. Oxford Plains Speedway is located on Route 26 in Oxford, ME.
