This is just my opinion so take it for what it is worth . Since whelen has come on board as Title sponsor of the Tour SEVERAL big things have happened .
1. The creation of the Nascar Whelen Southern Modified Tour - This brings much needed recognition to our southern counterparts . And I believe will lead to more races for the Northern drivers in the south .
2. Although more related to Don Hawk coming aboard , the Thompson "300" will once again be a FULL 300 lap race . Modifieds crown jewel has returned .
3. We are going back to Martinsville !!! While this may also be more related to Don Hawk it is still AWESOME news for the Modifieds . A combination race with the Southern Tour , this will be the FIRST EVER race under the lights at Martinsville . THIS IS BIG .
4. The minimum purse has increased . Whilr to me personally the purses are still lacking we are getting somewhere .
5. While not really related to Whelen coming aboard REAL modified drivers with their REAL cars ans sponsors will be featured in the 2006 Nascar Chase videogame . This will make several of the top Whelen Tour drivers become household names , not just with modified fans , but with racing fans throughout the world . This also is AWESOME news .
hese are just some things that I have personally noticed . I personally believe that Whelen believes in the modifieds future . And want to say "Thank You " for supporting the best racing in the world The Nascar Whelen Modifieds .
