Laperle Opens Série ACT Castrol Title Defense With St-Eustache Win
For Immediate Release SAC-051908-1
ST-EUSTACHE, QUÉBEC American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Model stock car driver Patrick Laperle began the defense of his 2007 Série ACT Castrol championship in dominating fashion on Sunday at Autodrome St-Eustache near Montréal. The St-Denis-sur-Richelieu, QC driver quickly made his way from 15th starting position in the St- Eustache 100 to the front of the pack, and took the lead from outside polesitter Steven Boissonneault on lap 48. Laperle held onto the lead through the races fifth and final restart on lap 55, then blitzed the field for his third career Série ACT Castrol victory. The win came less than 24 hours after finishing third in an ACT Late Model Tour event at Airborne Speedway in Plattsburgh, NY. Boissonneault, of Lyster, QC, tied a career-best finish in second place. London, ON rookie Jonathan Urlin benefited from a late-race tangle with St-Félicien, QCs Karl Allard to capture third place in his first career Série ACT Castrol start. Allard survived for fourth place, one spot better than Terrebonne, QC driver Sylvain Lacombe. Veteran Lanoraie, QC driver Claude Leclerc finished sixth, while Québec Citys Jean-François Déry was the final car on the lead lap in seventh place. Patrick Hamel, Dany Ouellet, and Alexandre Gingras completed the top- ten finishers in order, unofficially. The Série ACT Castrol is back in action on Saturday, May 31 at Autodrome Montmagny, east of Québec City. For more information, call (802) 244-6963 or visit www.laserieactcastrol.com.
