Now with all that out of the way.....Let's make some laps!
Silk is a very good young driver. I think of the young guys now on the Tour he is second only to Civali. But there is a reason that they have had now 5 drivers in 4 years. Maybe, just maybe it's not the driver that is the problem. I wish him luck. I think he'll need it.
The "bad luck" excuse only goes so far. They have big money equipment, so its not like old parts are breaking. Silk is an awesome driver, and i wish him the best. Also, I wonder why he won't be in the 3. Savary or someone else throw more money at them?
Wasnt saying anything bad bout the 3 car...what i was trying to say that silk is not going with a start up team or his starting his own team....cause theres only a few rides out there 3 77 79...now that leaves the ..3 Marquis would be logical choice I know hes not a definate for his Busch east ride ....
when you think about it no one except tc or eddie has done very well in the 79...then again teddy did only drive it once this year. i think if the hills really wanted a good driver they would try and get eddie back in the seat.
Silk is in the 79. Blew off the 3 hours before the Banquet. Bad blood there Savery in the 3. Bring BIG money that no other owner wanted. Woody's out, nothing going on right now. Whelen to sponser Tour thru 2016. Spec motor in in 2008. Big carb, lesss weight, less gear.
Savory is NOT in the 3!!! That is a fact.....he supposedly is starting up his own team and his still trying to talk Art Barry into running for him. and as for Woody he does not have enough money to run the 3 car!! Trust me when I tell u this as a I know all the 3 guys....h
I think you are wrong about Savery not going to the #3. When he got his Rookie of the year trophy and check, he said "isn't this better than most improved driver Michael". Meaning he gets a check next year for every race he makes for being last years ROY. Silk got most improved driver. But, time will tell. 6 figures make strange things happen.
First Teddy got most improved driver!!! Second right from the horses mouth the 3 would not put savory in the car unless they absloutley are desperate!!!!!Nobody on the tour likes Savory at all.....he cant drive a nail!!!! Look for a former driver to be in the 3 next year....

Teddy got the Featherlite most improved driver award, which is from race to race. Silk got the Driver Achievement Award which is for the year. Not called most improved because of the sponser, but the same thing
ok your half right... The motor the 3 won with at Thompson was a ford...it wasnt bought fron lia..its a house motor that Jim Mikel built.... who owns P.T.
At the World Series Lia's car had the PT Chevy Motor in, and I was told that the Ford in the 3 was the motor Lia used down in New Smyrna. I didn't know PT built any blue ovals.
Yes P.T. built that motor. He dosent have to many customers left on the tour. With the 3,79,21....are pretty much his only guys he has left.Once lia drove the 4 car he immediately bought a hutter and put his motors up 4-sale.
Westfield, NC Ronnie Silk of Norwalk, CT has been named as the new driver for Hillbilly Racing. Silk, one of the up and coming stars of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour is coming off the most successful season of his young career, having earned his first career Tour victory and finished forth in the point standings. He replaces Woody Pitkat who drove the #79 Coors Light Pontiac in 10 races for Hillbilly Racing in 2007.
The move is made with the hope that this will be the beginning of a long successful relationship. Were looking to build a relationship that will last for awhile, says team owner Roger Hill. We not only want to win now, but work with a driver who we can have in our car for a number of years. Ronnie Silk is that driver.
Crew Chief David Hill believes this is the next piece of the puzzle as the team tries to return to victory lane on the Whelen Modified Tour for the first time since 2004. When we made a change in the middle of last season, Ronnie was someone we had a lot of interest it but was committed to another team at the time, said Hill. As we started to look toward the future when the season ended, it became clear that he was the right fit for us going forward.
Silk, who will be in his third full season on the Tour, is excited and optimistic about the opportunity to drive for the Hill family. Ive wanted to race for a team like the Hills - who wouldnt, said Silk. I was hoping to find a ride that I could be in for quite a while and I think this will be that car. As he looks toward the 2008 season, he knows communication will be key to the success. Im looking forward to getting to know everyone and begin the communication process. Getting off to a good start will be important. Ive never driven a RaceWorks before, but I understand how a racecar should feel and just need to communicate that to the team.
Parting with Pitkat wasnt an easy decision for the Hills. Woody did a great job last season and gave our team a much needed lift, said David Hill. We were certainly a much better race team at the end of the year. Woodys going to be very successful in the future, we just believe our best future is with Ronnie behind the wheel.
Silk and Hillbilly Racing will compete full-time on the Whelen Modified Tour as well as select events on the Whelen Southern Modified Tour and the ROC series. The team will begins its season with four nights of racing at New Smyrna Speedway in February. Coors Light and LeBlue Water will return as sponsors for the 2008 season. Hey you're the guy going to build a bear in Manhattan!
Ummmmmmm...Jaws if I stand corrected Eddie Whelan bought a Motor home 18 wheeler 3 cars 4 motors for Mike E. which was the 17...sold everything after 2 years then got back into racin. a couple years later...so dont talk bout him bein sum main stay on the tour!!! Those honors go teams like the 3,4,79,16...etc He is a fly by night type of owner....I will save this thread cause before T.C. ends his career he will drive the 79 for a full season!!!
You guys are all full of crap. If Silk stinks it up at Florida, and the first 3 tour races North and South, Civali will be in the 79 in the Southern races. Take it to the bank!! AndCivali, not TC will be in the 79 in 09. He was, after all the first choice of the Hill's.

Ok so Ed has not been around for as many years as the others but the 17 or 36 have been on the track for a lot of years.
Ed is far from fly by night. He has been full time on the tour for quite a few years.
My comments were the 36 will be on the track in 2008 with TC at the wheel nothing else

Please, don't resort to name calling or calling other people out. Keep bringing the rumors, but try not to attack each other. While we like hearing anything we can from anyone who has to say it, we don't like everyone po'ed at each other.
