Kenny Wallace to run T-Road

NASCAR Nextel Cup Star Kenny Wallace to Compete at Thunder Road

For Immediate Release                                        TR-061107-1

BARRE, VT NASCAR Nextel Cup Series star Kenny Wallace of St. Louis, MO will take on the best of the
American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Model stock car division at Barres Thunder Road on Sanel Parts Plus Night,
Thursday, June 28.  The popular driver and SPEED television personality will make his debut on the high-banked
oval in a car regularly driven by former Queen of the Road Tracie Bellerose.
The colorful Wallace, also known by race fans as Herman, has more than 330 starts in the Nextel Cup
Series, and is a nine-time winner in the NASCAR Busch Series.  He currently drives the Furniture Row #78 Chevrolet
on the Nextel Cup Series, and is a co-host on SPEED TVs NASCAR RaceDay.  Wallace has also released a new book,
Inside Hermans World, with publisher Coastal 181 of Newburyport, MA.  His appearance behind the wheel of an ACT
Late Model at Thunder Road will be the third by a NASCAR Nextel Cup Series driver in recent years, joining Ken
Schrader and Vermonts own Kevin Lepage.
Ol Herman is coming to invade Thunder Road! Wallace exclaimed on Monday.  Ive heard about that
legendary little race track for many, many years.  [Track co-owner] Ken Squier is a good friend of mine, and hes
always talked about how great the fans are at Thunder Road.  Were racing at New Hampshire that weekend, and
Coastal 181 asked me to do a book signing at Thunder Road while I was in New England.  I figured I might as well
race while Im there.
In addition to his duties with the Nextel Cup Series and SPEED, Wallace competes on a diverse schedule of
local short track events at both dirt and asphalt facilities.  He was a feature winner on the dirt track at
Peoria, Illinois last month, and finished on the podium in an appearance at Thompson Speedway in Connecticut, a
5/8-mile asphalt oval, last season.
I grew up on short tracks, and I love to race whether its dirt, asphalt, or whatever.  I raced with some
of the ACT folks during my years in ASA (American Speed Association) and the old Stock Car Connection, and Ive
always felt that the crate motor program they have now in ACT and at Thunder Road is the way to go.  You can build
a short track car and race it for a long time without having to spend a fortune on your engine.  I can say that
Ive raced at almost all of the tracks Ive ever visited, and I need to add Thunder Road to my resume!
Wallace will steer the Merchants Bank Chevrolet normally driven by 2000 Thunder Road Track Champion Tracie
Bellerose of Gorham, NH.  Belleroses crew chief, Jeff Laquerre of East Montpelier, VT, and car owner Scott Fearn
of Wilbraham, MA are excited to have Wallace aboard.
Kenny Wallace coming to race a Late Model at Thunder Road speaks volumes about the progress of the ACT
crate engine and the rules package we race with, said Fearn.  These are great race cars, and its nice to know
that they have the respect of a top-level driver like Kenny.
Thunder Road drivers will face Wallace on Sanel Parts Plus Night, Thursday June 28.  Green flag qualifying
action will begin at 7:00pm.  Thunder Road continues its tradition as the best entertainment value in Vermont with
general admission prices at only $9 for adults, $3 for children, and just $18 for a family of four.  For more
information, call (802) 244-6963, or visit the official Thunder Road website at www.thunderroadspeedbowl.com.

Thunder Road Stars Ready for NASCAR Driver Kenny Wallace

For Immediate Release                                    TR-062207-1

BARRE, VT Thunder Road Late Model stock car drivers are not scared of NASCAR Nextel Cup Series invader
Kenny Wallace.  In fact, theyre ready to teach him a few tricks of their own at The Nations Site of Excitement
on Sanel Parts Plus Night next Thursday.
Bring it on, says 2007 feature winner Joey Becker of Jeffersonville.  I dont know if I can beat Kenny
Wallace, but the race track sure can.  Its a tough place to race at, especially your first time.
Three-time King of the Road and current co-point leader Cris Michaud agrees.
Kenny Wallace is going to have to take some lessons from us if he wants to go fast, said the
Williamstown driver.  We know at Thunder Road that the only fast way around is up high by the Widowmaker wall.
If he can figure out how to get through Turn 4 on the outside, hell be tough but he has to figure it out first.
Shelburnes Jamie Hurricane Fisher, another former Thunder Road Champion, says he enjoys beating the
nationally-recognized drivers when they come to race in Vermont.
Its a lot of fun when the NASCAR guys show up and we beat them, said Fisher.  Ken Schrader got so mad
a couple of years ago that he didnt win that he came back the next year to try again, and we still got the best
of him.  I think Kenny Wallace will catch on to the track quickly, but finishing in front of us Thunder Road guys
is another challenge.
Wallace, a veteran of more than 330 starts on the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series, will join the growing list of
national superstar competitors that have tested the Barre high banks.  Wallace will pilot a Chevrolet sponsored by
Century 21 with the help of multi-time champion crew chief Jeff Laquerre of East Montpelier and car owner Scott
Fearn of Wilbraham, MA.
On Sanel Parts Plus Night on Thursday, June 28, Kenny Wallace will take on the likes of veterans Becker,
Michaud, and Fisher, Thunder Roads new breed drivers Mike Bailey, Chip Grenier, and WDEV 50 winner Marcel
Gravel, and Montpeliers Dave Pembroke, who shares the point lead with Michaud.
A full card of NAPA Tiger Sportsmen, Allen Lumber Street Stocks, and Power Shift Junkyard Warriors will
also be on tap.  Regular ticket prices remain in effect for the special event, with general admission at only $9
for adults, $3 for children, and just $18 for a family of four.  Qualifying for the Streets and Warriors is
scheduled for 6:30pm, with the Post Parade set to roll at 7:00pm.  For more information, call (802) 244-6963 or
visit www.thunderroadspeedbowl.com.
