"Six Guaranteed Starter Dates Announced For Thompson Mod Mania"
True Value Modified Racing Series founder and President Jack Bateman announced Saturday March 10, series racers will have six chances to become a guaranteed starter for the 2007 edition of "Modified Mania" at the Thompson International Speedway, Thompson, CT. The second annual presentation by track owner/promoter Don Hoenig will take place Sept 8, 9 at the historic 5/8 mile oval.
Bateman, speaking to drivers, car owners, series officials, and press members, at his second off season rules meeting, announced the six dates will contest at race facilities in Maine, New Hampshire and Connecticut.
The first event will take place Memorial Day weekend when the traveling tour stops at the Monadnock Speedway, Winchester, NH, for a 100 lap event. The second race to determine a guaranteed starter is scheduled June 9 when the historic Waterford, CT., Speed Bowl plays host to the fourth year series for a 100 lap journey there.
New Hampshire’s Lee USA Speedway, July 13, will be the third qualifying opportunity with the running of the "All-Star 100" a long time event at the 3/8 mile race facility. The first appearance of the series at the Oxford Plains Speedway, Oxford, ME., on "Oxford 250" weekend July 21, will be the setting for the fourth guaranteed starter 100 lap race, with another Maine facility, the famed Beech Ridge Motor Speedway,Scarboro,ME., providing the backdrop for the 5th Thompson qualifier, Aug 4, a 100 lap race . The last guaranteed starter position will be earned at the Canaan NH Speedway, Aug 11, in a 100 lap event.
Contingency programs will be in place for the six events with all feature race
lineups determined by qualifying heats races and last chance consolation events.
Bateman also disclosed this year’s race is open to any race team that chooses to enter if the team is series registered, secures a series membership, and complies with series rules. Several drivers are expected to try and score a "hat trick" and win all three races staged by the sanctioning organizations, TVMRS, ROC, and WMT.
TVMRS racers will take part in upcoming race car shows at the Diamond Run Mall, Rutland, VT., Mar 23, 24, 25, at the Cheshire Fair Grounds, Keene, NH, Mar 31, Apr 1 and the Concord NH Race Fever on June 28. This year’s event will take place at the Everett Arena, Concord.
