International Speedway Corp. announced Tuesday that it is "exploring the possibility of pursuing" a partnership to develop a race track near the Denver International Airport in Adams County, Colorado. Through a wholly-owned subsidiary, ISC is looking at 1,300-acre land parcels in Commerce City and Aurora and hopes to partner with local or state governments to develop the land for a "national-level motorsports entertainment facility." The facility would seat approximately 75,000 and bring "considerable economic impact" to the area, ISC said in a statement. The ISC statement said the project is in the "very early evaluation phase" and no decisions have been made on cost, exact location or potential partners. Terms of any agreements with prospective land owners are not disclosed, ISC said. (Scene Daily) BGN NOTE: The Busch Series visited the Pikes Peak International Raceway from 1998 to 2005. ISC sold the track and moved the race date to Martinsville last season. Of course, that event only lasted one season before the announcement fell that the series would now be heading to Montreal. PPIR was roughly an hour from Denver in Fountain. (02-13-07)
