Penske Racing officials announced Friday at Atlanta Motor Speedway that three-time IndyCar Series champion Sam Hornish Jr. will attempt to qualify for two NASCAR Busch Series races this season. Hornish will pilot the #39 Mobil 1 Dodge at the Nov. 11 Phoenix and Nov. 18 Homestead events. Penske Racing will expand its Busch Series effort in 2007, splitting duties between Hornish and fellow Penske drivers #12- Ryan Newman and #2-Kurt Busch. Indianapolis 500 winner Sam Hornish Jr. will have ExxonMobil Corp.'s Mobil 1 brand on his Penske Racing Dodge Charger when he attempts to qualify for the Nov. 11 NASCAR Busch Series race at Phoenix International Raceway and the Busch Series season-ending Nov. 18 event at Homestead-Miami Speedway, it was announced Saturday at Atlanta Motor Speedway.In 2007, Penske Racing will expand its NASCAR Busch Series presence with Hornish and fellow Penske drivers Kurt Busch and Ryan Newman with each running multiple races. Hornish will compete in a limited number of Busch Series races in 2007 that do not conflict with his IndyCar commitments.(Penske PR) (10-28-06)
