Welcome to the 18th edition of the Oswego Speedway Cyber Eagle newsletter. Interest in this year's 50th Classic is at an all-time high. Six-time Classic winner Bentley Warren will again return to the Oswego Speedway. Add in former Classic champions Mike Ordway, Joe Gosek, Greg Furlong, Tim Snyder, and Doug Heveron, plus the likes of 2004 track champion Tim Gareau, newly crowned 2006 Track Champion Otto Sitterly, Pat Abold, Bobby Santos and over 40 other drivers looking for their first classic win and you have one of the most impressive fields assembled in quite some time.
Also in competition this weekend, the RoC Modifieds take part in a 125 lap event on Friday 9/1, with the ISMA Supermodifieds hitting the track on Saturday 9/2 with the Can-Am Midgets and Legend cars. Everything leads up to Sunday 9/3, when the Pathfinder Bank Limited Supermodifieds run their 50 Lap Classic and the Novelis Supermodifieds take part in the traditional 200 lap Budweiser International Classic. There have been many trips down memory lane this year, as it is the Golden Anniversary of the International Classic. There is one driver, front and center that has made more Classic Weekend memories than anyone else in the field. He's been in more Classics than another driver (31), he leads the all time Classic point list of almost 400 drivers, he is tied with the legendary Mr. Classic Nolan Swift for the most wins (6), and he ranks second, only behind Swift, for all time Classic top fives (12). By now, you have figured out that the driver here is the immortal Bentley Warren.
Just being in town for the weekend will add to the Bentley Warren legend. If Bentley picks up that elusive 7th win, the party may go on for days. He's a larger than life image, and it's sure to be an honor to have him part of the 50th annual, Golden Anniversary International Classic.
(Register and purchase your subscription before 12am ET on 9/1 to save $3.00) Oswego Speedway continues to break new ground once again this year, as they have come to terms with Asphaltivison.com to carry all of the 2006 Classic weekend events via Pay Per View on the web starting on Friday, September 1st. After a huge response to their 2006 video webcasts, Oswego Speedway promoters Steve Gioia and Pat Furlong wanted to continue to provide their International audience the ability to take part in the tradition of racing at Oswego Speedway by viewing the Classic weekend LIVE on the web if they cannot make it in person. A FREE preview of the Friday night racing events will be available for all registered members of asphaltvision.com while Saturday and Sunday action will require a Classic Pay Per View subscription starting at $11.99 if purchased before midnight on 9/1, and $14.99 the day of the events on Saturday and Sunday.
If you are unfamiliar LIVE Internet broadcasts; logon to www.Asphaltvision.com and click on the "Support" page for tips and requirements for viewing the Asphaltvision programming content. In addition to a Classic Pay Per View subscription and a broadband Internet connection, members will also need Internet Explorer 4 or higher, and Windows Media Player 9; both of which are FREE and come installed by default on PC's.
The one hundred finalists for the Numero Uno Break the Bank Classic Cash Contest have been selected. The contest will pay one lucky fan $50,000 for correctly predicting the top five finishers, in order, for the 50th Budweiser International Classic on Sunday September 3rd. The contest allowed for individuals to travel to as many participating locations of Uno Chicago Grill and Community Bank, N.A. and enter at all locations. Individuals' names could only be pulled once from any given entry box but there was no limit as to how many different entry boxes that their names could be pulled from. When you see the list of one hundred finalists, it is clear that some fans visited almost all locations for both sponsors. Good luck to all one hundred finalists from the Oswego Speedway, Uno Chicago Grill and Community Bank, N.A. Maybe someone will break the bank for $50,000 on Classic Sunday.
