Now with all that out of the way.....Let's make some laps!
LEE, N.H. -- With only 3 points races left on the 2006 Lee USA Speedway schedule, the battles for track championships are heating up as only two points separate the top two runners in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series late model division making for an interesting finish to the season. JR Baril and Wayne Helliwell Jr, two pro stock racers that returned to the Lee oval this year to compete in the tracks late model division, have been the drivers to beat and fans will be treated to another “Showdown at Sundown” entering this Friday nights race card at the Rte 125 speed plant. To add to the excitement of chasing the championship, both have garnered 4 feature wins and this weeks USG 50, broken into twin 25 laps races, will add to the drama of their return to Lee and their hunt for the track title.
Only 9 points separate point leader Boe Green and defending champ Wayne Whitten Jr. in the street stock division. Although the top two have pulled away from the pack, a hotly contested chase for points is being staged for the third through fifth positions. Jimmy Renfrew presently sits third in the rankings, but only 6 points separate Jason Marr and Michelle Fushpanski for fourth spot entering Friday’s race program.
4 points are the margin in the Ciotti Racing Products Hobby Stocks chase. Jim Shorey and Pete Evans are locked in a battle there while 9 points separate Todd Bregy and Brian Thompson, third and fourth.
Only 11 points separate the top two positions in the supermodifieds with Eddie Witkum Jr., and Joey Scanlon battling it out for the championship.
Ricky Porter Jr. is well on his way to garnering the title in the roadrunner division with 6 wins to his credit this season.
The tracks champions will be honored at the annual banquet November 18th.
This Friday nights program gets the green flag at 6:45 PM.
