Now with all that out of the way.....Let's make some laps!
Thompson, CT (August 10, 2006): After qualifying for several of the Super Six divisions at Thompson International Speedway, the skies opened up dumping a considerable amount of rain in the local area. With standing water and the continued threatening weather, Speedway management was forced to postpone Thursday Night Thompson Thunder.
The feature events for all divisions will be completed at a later date. Thompson will honor rain checks at any regular Thursday night racing event of equal value.
Before the rains came Jeff Malave of S. Windsor, CT and Jimmy Blewett of Howell, NJ took down heat race wins. During the rain delay both heat races winners were joined in the press box by fellow Sunoco Modified competitor Woody Pitkat of Stafford, CT. All three drivers answered questions from announcer Matt Buckler on their careers and the 2006 season.
Other qualifying heat races winners included Kurt Vigeant of Oxford, MA in the TIS Modifieds and Mike Romano in the Mini Stocks. Ed Puleo of Brandford, CT and Kevin Bowe of Pawtucket, RI shared qualifying victories in the Limited Sportsman division.
Next week the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will highlight the activities at Thompson International. For more information on the upcoming events log on to www.thompsonspeedway.com or call the Speedway office at (860) 923-2280.
