OVER 40 ENTRIES FILED FOR ACT’S BOND AUTO LABOR DAY CLASSIC

Waterbury, VT – More than 40 Late Model drivers representing all six New England states as well as
New York and the Canadian provinces of Quebec and Ontario have filed entries for the upcoming Bond
Auto Labor Day Classic 200 at Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl, Barre, VT.  The high banked, quarter-
mile oval will host the American-Canadian Tour’s (ACT) second $10,000 to win ACTion Super Series
event on Sunday, September 3.
The first ACTion Super Series race was held July 9 at Quebec’s Sanair Super Speedway, a 7/8ths mile
tri-oval located near Montreal.  Ben Rowe of Turner, ME was victorious in that $10,000 to win three-
segment event.  The third race, the 43rd annual New England Dodge Dealers Milk Bowl is slated for
Sat, Sept 30 and Sun, Oct 1.
Among the entrants for the 28th annual Labor Day event is the race’s defending winner, Jean-Paul
Cyr from Milton, VT.  Cyr, a multi-time ACT Tour Champion, has already visited Victory Lane at
Thunder Road this year winning the season opening Merchants Bank 150.
Roger Brown of Lancaster, NH, was leading last year’s Bond Auto Labor Day Classic 200 by a
comfortable margin when he ended up in the front stretch wall after a collision with a lapped car. 
In addition to his recent ACT Tour victory at Seekonk (MA) Speedway, the 27 year-old racer has
posted three top ten finishes this year.  A win at the Nation’s Site of Excitement would be the
crowning glory of his season.
Other Tour entrants include Maine drivers Steve Reny, Ron Henry, and Lew Fortin, Ryan Vanasse from
Rhode Island, Massachusetts racers A.J. Begin and Marc Curtis Jr, as well as Dennis Botticello and
Walter Sutcliff from CT.  Fred LaGoy and Mark Lamberton will represent the Empire State while
Patrick Laperle and Claude Leclerc, both from Quebec, have also filed entries.  Veteran Ontario
driver, Robbie Thompson, who posted a ninth place finish in the Sanair ACTion Super Series race
looks to return to Thunder Road for the first time in over ten years.
Looking to take on the traveling teams will be many of Thunder Road’s weekly competitors.  Among
the “locals” looking to challenge for the $10,000 top prize are multi-time Late Model “King of the
Road” Cris Michaud, current point leader Chad Wheeler and former track champion, Pete Fecteau,
among others.
The jury is still out on who might be the early favorites.  While the weekly racers know the ins
and outs of the high-banked speedplant, their longest race is half the distance of the upcoming
Bond Auto Labor Day Classic 200.  The Tour drivers are more used to longer distance races, but
Thunder Road’s quarter-mile oval has a reputation of being a handling track where set-up is key.
    Drivers looking to get a jump on figuring out the Barre, VT track will have plenty of
opportunity on Saturday, Sept 2.  Qualifying for the 28th annual event is set for Sunday (Sept 3)
starting at 1:00 pm.
