The long-awaited arrival of Thursday Night Thompson Thunder is just about over. The extremely popular Thursday night race program at the Thompson International Speedway begins on June 8th.
Thursday Night Thompson Thunder (TNTT) will once again showcase six NASCAR Dodge Weekly Racing Series divisions of competition in an ultra-fast race program that has fans in and out in just over three hours.
The NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Feature division is the Sunoco Modifieds. These open wheel racecars are the fastest weekly racing division in the northeast. A mixture of veteran and young, upcoming drivers makes for edge-of-the-seat excitement as these cars race at speeds well in excess of 100 MPH on the high banks of Thompson.
ICEBREAKER weekend winners Woody Pitkat and Todd Ceravolo will lead a full filed of Sunoco Modified race teams into the first Thursday night of competition. Some of the drivers looking to grab the The Pro Stocks once again will prove to be crowd pleasers. Todd Owen, Jeff Connors, George Bessette, Mike O’Sullivan and Jeff Zuidema are just some of those who will be out for a win on June 8th.
Thompson’s Late Model division along with the Limited Sportsman bring yet another dimension to the sport of auto racing. These extremely competitive divisions have developed huge fan followings and provide thrill-a-minute action from start to finish. Rubbing fenders and swapping paint is the norm as the drivers in these divisions give it their all.
Variety in the racing competition is key at Thompson. Three of the six NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series divisions are open wheel racecars. Along with the Sunoco Modifieds, the open wheels are found on the Thompson Modifieds and on the Mini Stocks. These divisions provide that extra Pit gates will open at 3 PM with the track’s huge grandstand opening at 4:30 PM.
Qualifying races are slated for a 5:45 PM start and are followed immediately by six NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series main events. The TNTT schedules are posted on the Thompson International Speedway web site. Fans should check Thompson9s official web page frequently for the latest in information, news, schedules, points standings and much more. The site address is www.thompsonspeedway.com. Fans may also call the track office at 860-923-2280.
