“Bodreau Anxious For New Season On True Value Modified Tour”
When the True Value Modified Racing Series makes it’s four appearances this season at Lee USA Speedway, Lee, NH, for Claremont, NH’s Sean Bodreau, each trip east to the seacoast speedway will conjure up the night that shortened his 2005 season forcing him to the sidelines with a broken thumb that required a three pin installation to surgically correct the problem. The 13 year veteran driver and 2004 TVMRS Most Popular Driver Award recipient, was involved in an on speedway collision with another car that ended in a bout with the first turn concrete wall sidelining him for the better part of the season. “It wasn’t a fun summer” says the 31 year old machinist who spent many a Saturday night in the grandstands with family left to wonder what might have been in 2005. He added, “We were out from that night at Lee till August, it was tough not to race.”
Bodreau, married to wife Heidi and father to daughter Meghan, is anxious to put 2005 behind him and welcomes the new season with a new car and a fresh start. With that shortened season in the history book, the Bodreau family, long involved in New Hampshire short track racing, has regrouped for the 2006 campaign. With Sean’s dad, forty year racer and Claremont Speedway Hall of Fame member Ernie Bodreau serving as chief mechanic, the team sold two cars in their stable and acquired a Troyer car from former series driver Bucky Demers, Cornish, NH. “We’ll have a Jack’s Competition Engine for power, we went through the car all winter and are planning on having it ready for the car show in Keene” said Bodreau. That car show is the Motorsports Madness 2006 scheduled for the Cheshire Fairgrounds, Keene, NH March 31 – April 2. Bodreau will be joined by NH modified racers Rob Goodenough, Bob Donahue and veteran Jack Bateman. The Bodreau modified raced last year has been purchased by newcomer Josh Currier while the 2nd car was sold on E-Bay landing in Tennessee to be used in hill climbing competition.
The Bodreau team will focus their attention on the season opener for the True Value Modified Racing Series opener at Monadnock Speedway, Winchester, NH April 15th for 100 laps of “Rolling Thunder”. The touring division, with 60 teams now registered for the new season, have been invited to “practice day” Saturday April 8 at the high banked oval. They’ll appear there on five scheduled dates this season, a popular stop for the third year touring division.
