Hey gang I was just thinking of all the cars Bob drove over the years, this is was I have and if I missed any help me out. Joe's # 06-Bunnell's #1 Smitty's # 1 Angie's #5 Smitty's #11-#11 RI- Orange #11-pinto Art's #14 Roger's # 15 His own #18s Art's #21 Norm's # 21 Freddy's # 23 Doo's # 31 Rollie's # 48 Roger's # 51-Jiggs # 51- Henry Os # 51 Joe's # 52 John Adam's # 59? Coleman's # 70 The # 83 coupe at Stafford - Both of Roger's # 110s and Beaber's # 716. Did I forget any? Richie.
Mike Wengloski's #34, Frank Ruocco's #97, John Adam's #11. I had heard that Bob drove Garbarino's Mystic Missile #4 as well, but have never saw a pic or remember seeing him drive it so not sure on that one. Anyone?
Seriously, I am not sure but if this the coupe you are reffering to. I used to like seeing this out there with all the new bodies, just could'd used a milder paint job.
OWR, Thanks for bringing me up to speed with some other cars. So it was Adams #11, not #59 I was'nt sure on that one -thanks. I too thought Bob drove the #4 but i found nothing to prove he did or did'nt. If you find any others let me know. Richie.
SPD, yes that is the car, #83. I believe he drove it at Stafford, not sure but thats what i was told. Keep them coming. If anyone can confirm he drove it let me know. Richie.
I remember something about Bob shoeing the Mytic Missie but can not find anything on it. But I remember one or two of the #4 crew hanging around and lots of talk about it. Oh course, that was many moons ago, lol.
Back in the '70s I worked on Big Mike's car and Potter was very good friends with Mike & Earl. Earl worked with Jerry Glaude. Plus in '72 we moved the 76 to Al Gaudreau's shop and built the #3 and 110's with Potter, Roger Bonneville & crew. Potter is a class guy and should be in the area hall of fame for all he has accomplished in racing.
Speaking as to what a class act Bob has always been. I was at Stafford the day the track did a very nice rememberance ceremony for the late Moose Hewitt. And Bob and Moose ranked right up there as one of the fiercest racing rivalry's there was especially in the mid 70's to mid 80's at the Bowl. I guess what I'm trying to say is there wasn't an ongoing feud or anything like that but I don't think they exchanged christmas cards every year. As part of the ceremony, Bob drove Moose's last #19 on to the track an parked it in the infield and when the ceremony was over walked back to the pit area. I don't think there was a dry eye in the place including Bob's. RIP Moose.
Wow, wish I had been there for that. Thanks OWR for sharing that memory. But you are correct in the Moose & Potter rivalry's. Potter was not a dirty driver and either was Moose and that's what made it better.
I was just reading an old recap of a blastoff race in the late '70s early '80s where Dickie Doo lead most of the way and it said Bob was on his rear bumper for the last 50 laps but couldn't find a way to get by. And it was growing up with drivers like that is what makes me dislike the ones that give you a lap and then have to hit you and get you sideways to pass you.
