Suess claims New Smyrna Modified crown

Andy Suess finished fifth in the final night of racing competition at New Smyrna (FL) Speedway, one spot better than he needed to clinch the Series Championship. The eighteen year-old driver from New Hampshire, hoped to use the Series as a preparation for the True Value Modified Racing Series in 2006. Judging by the outcome, he will be a force to be reckoned with. Andy, the 2004 Series Rookie of The Year and 2005 Most Popular Driver, is the first New Hampshire based Modfied driver to win a New Smyrna Championship. He is also the first TVMRS driver to win a Championship at the Florida half mile.

I just would like to give a tip of the hat to the entire Rockingham Boats, One Stop Toy Shop #70 Racing Team. One motor, one car, one championship. Proof that the "little guys"can get the job done.

True Value Modified Racing Series

For Immediate Release

February 18, 2006

“Hampstead’s Seuss Captures Florida Modified Title”

18 year old driving sensation Andy Seuss, a Pinkerton Academy graduate, voted most popular driver for 2005 by racing fans of the True Value Modified Racing Series tour, became the first New Hampshire driver to win a series championship Saturday night at the New Smyrna, Florida Speedway as he finished fifth in the 25 lap finale and captured the 40th World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing title for modified race cars.

The Hampstead, N.H. driver, a mechanical engineering student at N.H. Technical College, and his team were consistent and it paid off at weeks end as they scored  5 top 5 finishes in 7 of the events run over the week long series. That consistency paved the way to the first ever modified championship won by a New Hampshire team at the Sunshine State oval during the annual Speed Weeks celebration. One race was lost to rain. Seuss, who captured his first career win in a modified racer last season at the Seekonk, Mass Speedway, competed against several top drivers from the NASCAR modified tour and becomes the first competitor from the upstart True Value Modified Racing Series to win a title at the famed Florida half mile speedway.

The 2004 rookie of the year is sponsored by two Granite State companies, One Stop Toy Shop, Epping, N.H., and Rockingham Boat, Hampstead, N.H.

Seuss will now focus on the season opener for the True Value Modifieds at the Monadnock Speedway, Winchester, NH., Saturday April 15. That will be the first of 19 events scheduled for the open wheel racers in New England. Two additional non point dates have also been scheduled.
