Now with all that out of the way.....Let's make some laps!
The #49 is the infamous, "Buddington road boys" team that Ronnie ran for a few times last season at the big T. The #60 is his family owned team's number that he has run at Thompson in the past.
The #07 is Marvin's regular number he has always run at Thompson, and the #87 was a second car he owned that he ran a few shows with at Stafford last season. I'm assuming he is registering both his cars for competition at Thompson is all.
SPD, from what I have gathered Yuhas will run both the #49 and the #60 as well. He plans to run the family owned #60 in several extra distance SK Modified races in 2006. I would guess that the #49 will be a limited deal.
As for Bert Marvin he has entered a back-up car as well as his primary. the #87 being the back-up and the #07 his primary. Other drivers do the same at several different tracks. I know at Stafford, Chris Jones and Frank Ruocco each have two cars registered.

The Thompson Sunoco Modified Roster continues to grow. Stephen Masse in car #22 is the latest addition to the over 60 drivers entered to compete in 2006. Looks like one heck of a competitive season shaping up at the "Big T".

With that said, is the number of registered numbers this season significantly higher than the last few years or is this a common thing to have some many on paper this time of year but as the season progresses the herd thins?
I was looking at a 1981 Thompson 300 program and they had 32 cars take the green in the non qualifiers race with the top 2 transfering to the 300 and they started 49th & 50th. Now that is a car count, not like the 15 - 20 that show up weekly during the dog days of summer.
Spd I was at those "300" races myself and it was something to witness. I believe I have a program from one of the 80's "300" where I took lap times for over 120 NASCAR Modifieds. And those 50 lap Non-Qualifiers were always great races.
The car counts on the entry list though are for the tracks Sunoco Modifieds, they do not use the name SK as it is a trademark of Stafford. The numbers to me seem to higher than average. With over 60 entered, I would say at least 35 to 40 cars every week. What is more impressive is the names that are on the list, a lot of top talent including several Whelen Tour drivers.

WMT, with the mini schedules for the Mod Tour & Busch Whereever Tour this year, maybe more will run the weekly tracks, if only on off weeks. That should not only help the pits with added attendance but also some more butts in the stands. It could be a good thing for the weekly shows. But I wonder if some are also fleeing WSB, even before the 'F'oreclosure bomb which didn't have a lot to start with.
And if you ever spoke to me in person you would see that in honor of Stafford everytime I say "SK" I always add the ™ at the end of it. I guess I need to start typing it also, lol.
Yes I believe that the smaller Whelen Tour Schedule has actually had a positive impact.
1. Several Tour drivers will compete in the Sk or Sunoco Modifieds more regulary. this will bring more fans to the track. More fans equals more money, which is what the tracks are after. some of the biggest gainers are the tracks that run NASCAR Tour Type Modifieds on a weekly basis. Tracks like Riverhead (NY) Speedway, Lancaster (NY) Motorsports, Spencer (NY) Speedway, and Mahoning and Mountain (PA) Speedways. Several Tour drivers will be competing on a more regular basis at these tracks.
2. More cars - With the smaller schedule several new teams are coming to the Tour for 2006.
I would still like to see more races, but the competiton level both on the Tour and at local tracks is going to be excellent this season.

any idea if yuhas is running waterford assuming waterford is open this year. If that speedway goes dormant while they figure out the finances does Thompson go to Saturday night. Be a bunch of SK's if that was the case. 50 would be a bad night. The nascar geographical conflict was with seekonk which is no longer nascar sanctioned.
Yuhas will be running the 3 extra distance races at the Bowl. I am guessing that if the Bowl closes, Thompson will get the Saturday night races, and a lot of Bowl guess will most likely go to Thompson.
i thought last year was burt's final year racing did he decide to come back
The long offseason tends to change a retiring race car drivers mind. I believe todd cerevallo last year in the mods was a couple of seasons back. Sold everything he had to craveno. I talked to the spotter and he said he wanted one more year, that was last year. I noticed the 20 piloted by t ceravalo was registered for yet another year (2006) in the thompson sunoco mods. Then there is mark martins last ride which extended for two seasons. Tough to give up somehting ya love unless injury or finances dictate you give it up.
Think'n out loud, I would doubt Thompson would jump to Sat night if the bowl flushes because Seekonk and a few other tracks still run Sat night and some of the regulars at TIS run there also. I would guess they would stand pat for this season and see what happens with the bowl.
i hope they dont turn to saturday nights ken's race school runs on saturdays and we would never be done by the time the track would want us, believe me its not like we start late in the morining either
