No Rich it was not Eric Berndt, although he is the only two time winner of the Waterford Speedbowl "Budweiser Modified Nationals". The current part-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour driver won in 2001 and 2002.

Ragoo, now that is one Modified driver I have not heard of in a while. I might be wrong but I believe Marty Radwick ran NASCAR Modifieds. I do not recall him racing SK Modifieds.

WMT, it was Steve Chowansky. The reason I know this as fact is I was crewin for Tucker Jr back then, and we led about 3/4 of the damn thing only to have the distributor foul up. We got lucky, caught a long caution, swapped distributors and got back up to second. We preceded to "wash away our tears" with a few adult beverages in the parking lot, and had a game of "punt pass and kick" with the faulty distributor. The best part was a certain engine builder was in on the game as well.
Yes Open it was Steve Chowansky. I remember the race well as Tucker and i were just becoming friends back then. I can not imagine any of us enjoying "adult beverages" beverages until sun up in the parking lot though LOL. We will leave the engine builder annonymous but that was the most unique game of "hackie-sack" ever.
