True Value Modified Veteran To Race for Cancer Research

Ascutney VT modified veteran Dwight Jarvis is busily preparing for the 2006 season but will take a break from that preparation and spend the upcoming weekend in a different racing venue. It won’t be behind the wheel of his familiar # 28 modified but instead he’ll climb aboard an ice racer with five other well known area drivers to compete in the 22nd annual Latchkey Ice Cup Race, hosted by the Lakes Region Ice Racing Club, and held on Berry Pond, in Moultonborough, NH, on Saturday Feb 4th. .  "We did it last year, it's a lot of fun", said the veteran driver who will entering his 33rd season when the True Value Modified Racing Series kicks of it's third campaign April 15 with a 100 lap race at the Monadnock Speedway, Winchester ,N.H.

The event, cancelled on Saturday Jan 28 by unusually warm weather and non raceable conditions, will also feature Pro All Star Series drivers Donnie Lashua and Walt Hammond, Busch East standouts Brad Leighton and Mike Olsen and Pro Stock standout Peter Jarvis.

Donations are appreciated, $10 per carload. The day features more than 60 cars in stock, modified, and junior classes. They’ll be autograph opportunities, food and souvenir concessions available. All proceeds go to cancer research at Norris Cotton Cancer Center. For information, call Michelle at 603-653-3628 days. For additional information, call Lakes Region Ice Racing Association member, Marcia Chase at 603-476-5598.
