Now with all that out of the way.....Let's make some laps!
In the late 1970s, this driver, a graduate from the DareDevil's class ran a modified for a short time, never a winner, but there every week too do battle. You could close your eye's and tell who it was just by the sound of the car, (not the engine sound) it was another sound. What was the sound, the driver, the car and the number? We should all remember this one. GOOD-LUCK
I believe that you are talking about Paul "HAWK" Fuegner. The car was an AMX bodied racecar. Note to Rich and RMF yes I have been around the "BOWL" for as long (possibly longer) than you guys. Been going since 1953 (at the tender age of 3). Also, turned a few laps there in the old Daredevil class in 68-69. That's probably where I get my extensive knowledge of the class (LOL).
RUDEDOG, you are correct it was Paul in the #71, you could close your eyes and hear that trunk rattling so loud it would over power the car when he backed off in the corners. GOOD JOB.
