So sorry Pat, we were posting simultaneously!

and this news is probably after the fact for most of the rest of you.

I attempted to be home this afternoon ready to post the results, as the Speedbowl management decided that the rain would be missing them this evening and did not cancel prior to 5:00 pm.  I got a call at approximately 6:00pm from the "eye" who reported that qualifying had been completed for all the divisions in an hour, but competitors and fans alike knew the rain was coming.  No one knew as well as me, as I was trapped inside the Lisbon Walmart with 100 other shoppers who did not want to face the torrential rain and lightning that was hitting there.

In Waterford, it was only drizzling on and off, but when the steady rain came, they called tonight's show.  It's too bad for some of the drivers who were counting on tonight's race being the last applicable Regional points race.

Only 19 SK's were on hand this afternoon for the heat races, and Jay Miller showed up late, (making 20 SK's total) and would have taken the green in a non-qualified spot.  The Heat winners this evening were, Tommy Fox, Rob Janovic, and Tyler Chadwick, respectively.  The only drama or cntroversy was over the weather, and if and when the WSB would cancel.

Please forgive the lateness of this information, as a deluge prevented most of the casino bound, (and the leaving loser) drivers on 395 to stop their cars right on the highway to wait out the storm.  Idiots, 20 miles an hour on the highway, with Mass and New York plated cars littering the shoulder from Uncasville north.  ......

again I digress....aggravated!  Excuse my ramblings...

And I was there...for a few short minutes. I saw some Mini Stock, Sportsman, and Late Model qualifying. Then my mom and I headed for the car (after a trip to the concessions for some dinner). It rained. We saw lightning. And then we headed to the Crystal Mall (a "duck and cover" technique). Turns out racing will resume next week. Gates open an hour later than usual.

Mandy, did they cancel the shooping at the mall because of the storm or did you and mom manage to get all of that in before the curfew?

Thanks again so much Pat, for your great additions to this forum, wonderful
photo, ....well great shot anyway. It looks like you guys had your work cut out
for you last week that's for sure.  Any word yet on the regionals,
(toes and fingers crossed) ?

Mandy, I am so sorry that one of the few times you and your Mom made it down to the bowl you were interrupted by rain.  I have always had a great time everytime I have been to the bowl, from hanging with the "pole people" afterwards, to making sure the campers in the "buses" got up on Sunday morning before the gate was chained.  We should all get together for the last race this year and maybe have a MakingLaps barbacue in the parking lot after the racing on Saturday night.  If you are interested, let me know and we can plan some things.

We have been very lucky to have a great relationship with those wonderful people over there at www.jeff-pearl.com, and the main matriarch in particular.  Thank you so much for all your insight and support, and we certainly are indebted to you for all those gaps being filled in lately.  I try hard not to be a "deranged dictator", and love it that we can all coexsist and have a mutually rewarding relationship now and in the future.  In fact, it is very sad that there are sites out there run by meglomaniac, narcissistic people who refuse help, advice, or even just constuctive criticism from well meaning friends of racing.  Everybody can't be wrong.

and speed, last but certainly not least.  It has been on my list of priorities to reply to your email.  I am embarrassed that it has taken so long to reply, but please look for an email shortly.  Your contributions to this site have been sometimes enlightening, and always entertaining!

Let's get a chat together with all the people that can't be at the big races coming up.  In fact, anytime any of you would like to utilize the chatroom during racing or even an off night, please feel free.  Just let me know if there is any funny business going on and we will put a stop to it immediately.

As the season winds down, I just want everyone to know how much we appreciate their additions, and want you all to know that this is "your board".    Enjoy it, without a "DD" in the background ready to pounce!

Alright, let me jump in on this jammy...

Few observations from my wet seat Saturday - Saw Shawn Monahan spotting for Diego during the heats without his fire suit on.  Not sure if he practiced or not, but the 31 didn't qualify on the track.  Also saw my man Eddie Reed for a bit.  Seems we'll see the 72 on the track again before the season wraps.  Sounds good to me - the more competition the better!!

I believe every heat race went by without a single caution in any of them.  Drivers were doin' there part to keep the show moving with the threat of rain...  Good Stuff...

The SK and LM point battles at the 'bowl are friggin' serious man!!  At least 3 drivers in each division with a chance at the crown this late in the season!!!  Can't ask for better than that.

And Brat... I'd say those cats at JP.com are pretty cool myself.  I must say, it's nice to have another excellent forum to ramble away on.  It seems if it wasn't for these 2 forums I wouldn't get a chance to talk with a majority of the racing community I currently do (most of whom I've yet to meet in person)  I love the makinglaps BBQ idea - that'd be a great chance to mingle it up at the track...

Good luck to everyone over the last few weeks...

Laids

We got out of the mall around 8pm, when we thought that the weather had died down. (Once we saw a nice view of lightning, we kind of changed our mind.)

Brat, I can't make the final race of the year. First hockey game of the year that night. (I really need to go see that.)

well, we had some problems and got in a little late, so we will be starting last next week. an interesting little side note: the 32 of Elliott Beverage is Reggie's former #2 Iguana car that he finished second in the points in 2000 to Jerry Marquis in.

is last nights ticket stub from the bowl good for next week or can be used towards admission for the finale?  Are they running double features next weekend?

I am not sure why the bowl decided to have a hot laps session after qualifying when threatening weather could clearly be seen off turn 1 and 2.  If qualifying ended a little early start running off the features, had they done that they would have gotten in 1 maybe 2 features.  A rain out was probably the best thing that could have happpened for the bowl as the crowd was very poor. I felt like I should have introduced myself to everyone in the crowd just because I could there was that small of a crowd.  Not a lot of local tracks run against the cup when they are in NH, I think I saw evidense as to why last night. The weather probably played a part in last nights attendance.

I was surprised to find how close the championship was in the sk's when I looked in the program and was looking forward to a good race.  I also noticed that jeffrey karnes and ed reed were in last weeks feature results. Hopefully they will return for a full season next year.  We need some additional competetive cars out there.  This has been a somewhat disapointing season when it comes to sk car counts.  I was a little surprised there were not any thompson or stafford cars in attendance.  Thompson having been rained out and I believe stafford had the week off.  Not a lot of racers go from track to track anymore.  I always looked forward to the end of the season when the invaders came in for a show or two.  As you can see, I had a lot of time to kill during that mid program hot lap session.

Last note.  they were selling gas for 2.73, the lowest i have seen since the hurricane, off 395 in ct.  I stopped and proceded to wait for 20 minutes for some guy and his wife to figure out the pay at the pump feature did not work with their foxwoods rewards card.  I then decided I couldnt wait anymore and left without getting gas.  Yes the car had Massachusetts plates but I think he was a no good yankee fan.  Too stupid to be a red sox fan.  Its going to be very interesting finish to the baseball season.  I am a little concerned.

A good rain all the way home.  I heard seekonk also fell victim to the rain, so there was no local racing this weekend.  unless the mini T got in a go kart program... Teddy wins both the busch north and mods at NHIS.  I heard he qualified for the cuppers as well but failed to win that one.

thats it for this rant. csg

Oh-oh, thems is fightin' words CSG. Ya wanna' take this outside, buddy? Just kidding (kinda) We'll be a thorn in your side to the end. for sure. Every year the stress just gets tougher to take. As for not running off the features right after the heats, it was explained to me (and it kinda made sense) that the features are advertised to start at 7 and I guess it they ran them too soon a lot of people might have missed them. It used to be that everyone came for the heats as well as the features. Nowadays they start filing in just in time for the features. I guess it didn't make much of a difference because of the weather. I thought I heard them announce that the ticket is good for any remaining regular race. Next week is just features. Until next week..GO YANKS

The whole practice thing after heats was kinda skechy. They were an hour ahead of schedule. So they decided they will give everybody practice. I was never told why.

Well the regionals is quite simple. Ron had the most pionts total at Waterford. So there for we are the represenative and finished fourth in it.

Ed Reed Jr told me that him and Gordon "Flash" knew it was gonna rain so they decided not to race. He will be back.

Well Ron dropped a spot (to fith) in the reginals because of the wreck and the rain out last week but still picked up $11,000.

That is really a great accomplishment for any local driver with all the competition from those other tracks.  Please send congratulations over to Ron and crew for a really successful season, and also for continued luck in the chase for the championship at the bowl.

Quite a lump considering Jimmy Broderick won $30,000 the year he won the regionals and the SMS championship.
