Now with all that out of the way.....Let's make some laps!
I'll say Fredie Desarro but I really do not believe it is correct because, I was there that fatefull day when he flew out over the 3rd/4th turn sand bank and died however, I do no believe the prior race was anything special.
Prior to his passing, he was running so well, they had a $500 bounty on him. You had to beat him and he had to be running at the end. Hell, he would run against the super modifieds with his ole blu coupe and get top 10's and sometimes top 5's. Don't remember him winning but U wouldn't doubt it. They even had a wing to put on top of his coupe.
Anyway, that's one of my Fredie Desarro stories. One of the all time greats.
Oh and WMT, the site I have for triva shows Merv Treichler in the #58 Monza body car at Watkins Glen for the win.
O.K. let's clarify this a bit more . This driver quit racing after this race . He was to retire anyway , but was lucky enough to win the last race he ever ran.
